Just purchased a Panasonic Plasma - and Sky SD quality (Sky + box), is excellent! Even on sports - very clear, no ghosting etc.

Just looking for opinions on Sky HD quality - is it really that much better than SD???? Whatever about the price of the box - the HD sub of €15 a month is still a big turn off!

There is not much content yet.
Your TV needs to be 48"+ and 1080lines rather than some of the lower resolution "HD Ready" or you won't see a huge difference. Obviously it's better even on a 32". But the smaller or further away the screen, or lower the native pixels, the less discernible the difference is.

I do find the philips 1366 x768 HD LCD much better for regular SD TV from Sky box than a cheap ordinary LCD, Almost good CRT quality :) I wouldn't buy that set myself for HD though now that I have tested it.

HD is definatley the way of the future. I have recently bought a Panasonic 1080p 42" and the picture quality between SD and HD is huge. Although Sky HD is only broadcast in 720P or 1080i it is still much better than SD. Have a look into buying yourself a media centre PC 400ish and grab some HD. All of my tv shows I watch in 720 p and the quality is great.

While it is true there is not that much content, the difference between SD and HD is massive.
I have a 42" X Bravia and especially watching the footie - no where near the same quality. Unbeliveably different.
Is it worth the money? Depends on how much footie or half decent movies you watch.
