    Hi,
I've only recently noticed how popular Airsoft is becoming. Largely thanks to Boards.ie.
There's almost an information overload here so I was just wondering if I could get some questions answered.
I see a lot of info here on skirmishes but what I wanted to try first was to get myself a decent pistol and try out Pistol Practice. I read about it on HRTA.IE and it sounded like something I'd love to try but there was no info on where it is held or how often.
Also is the following pistol worth getting? http://www.mainirishairsoft.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=317

    Thanks

Thanks. I've read a lot of the newbie thread but only seen info on skimishes. Couldn't see anything on the Pistol Practice end of things. I thought the HRTA thread was only for skirmishes?

    Hi deathstarkiller.

I'm not sure if you mean 'Practical Pistol' with airsoft pistols. I know it was discussed a while ago, but I'm not sure if it's become a regular event at HRTA or any of the other skirmish locations. It is something that I think a lot of people would be interested in though.

I'm not sure about the M92 ELITE IA ARMORY, so I'll let others give you a recommendation on that.

What I would suggest is to come out to one of the skirmish sites for a few hours. Everyone is happy to answer your questions, show you their airsoft equipment and even let try it out in most cases. It'll give you a good idea of whether or not airsoft is something you want to invest money in.

I think this is what he means, not sure if its still running. Most of us go for the Military Sim but I'm sure Paul can do the Pistol Pratical again if there are enough interested parties m8

The 92s are not the best pistols for practical pistol. Although any pistol could be used. Supposedly what makes a good PP are the customized modifications that are made to make them easier and faster to operate and more powerfull (in airsoft anyway) Things like a wider mag well, and a hicap magazine to make reloading faster and less frequent.
Good sights that are easy to find. Large safeties that are quick to snap on/off.
And the ability to hit a target like an express train. The idea being that each shot can be clearly identified as a hit or a miss.

You'd need to look at the Umarex K/R type, or the TM Hicapa 5.1 for a good out of the box PP.

FYI Umarex Pistols atm are like gold dust ;)

I have a Umarex M9. I'd say it'd be ok for PP. 25 rnds is enough, long as you are accurate....

Paul Has the Madbull PP timers system, though I dont know if it has ever been used(well, there are like 5 hits on the final target, probably ust testing)(as of the last time i saw it:p) It was probably more suitable for the old HRTA. Outdoor wind changes ect make it variable....
