If you have an XP system with three user accounts & you install Spy Bot S&D, will install across all three user accounts? or do you need to install it on each user account individually?

Can any existing users indicate if they've found it to be a hog on the system or not?

It will install across all three accounts.

It's not a resource hog at all, and TeaTimer is pretty excellent real-time protection. Doesn't use anywhere near as much resources as Ad-Aware etc.

You would be better off getting AVG anti-spyware or SUPERAntiSpyware by the way.

    Hi ActoSeeksJob,

While I have great time for AVG Antivirus, I have found The AntiSpyware to be a bit demanding on resources, especially on less beefier systems.

Right now a have a machine I'm tidying up for a friend & he wouldn't be too security savvy (I mean that in the nicest possible way) :D I have just increased the RAM on his system from 256MB to 1 Gig so maybe AVG would be less demanding now?

As you know ActorSeeksJob, you've helped me out in the past so you have a proven track record & I respect your opinion.

So, staying within the free zone, would your final vote go to AVG Antispyware?

Yeah I know what you mean. Can be annoying having security programs running on a low spec system.

What I would recommend is having the user install SpywareGuard for real-time protection, even on 120mb ram it still wouldn't slow you down. And then install either SUPERAntiSpyware or Dr. Web Cureit for a scanner program. Neither of those will be running in real-time. Best bet in my opinion.

I'll have a look at both of those so & see how the system responds.

    Cheers,

I'v installed SpywareGuard & Dr Web Cureit & you wouldn't even know they were there. Running very smoothly now.

    Thanks for the tip.

Yeah install that and SpywareBlaster and you definitely won't get affected.
