Additional speakers for Samsung 40" LCD TV

    I want to enhance the sound from this tv, I don't want to buy a DVD home theatre system - just an amplifier and additional speakers.
    Can anybody suggest what to buy and where to get them (in time for Xmas)

    Just buy one of those Logitech all in one packages, will do the job grand for you.Don't go buying a separate amp and speakers to amplify a TV's sound.

    Any speaker systems I see advertised usually indicate that they have to be connected to a DVD player or a PC, for example there are a few available in Argos - would these do the job. I just want to connect directly to the tv

    You need some kind of an amp , this is ( on cheaper systems ) sometimes built into the speakers , or someitmes built into the DVD player , but an amp is needed regardless , you cannot just plug speakers into the TV , no TV has an amplified sound output.

    I get the impression your looking for something cheap and cheerful so this might be your thing ,

    Hi - fi they aint , but will sound a hell of a lot better than the speakers on most TV's

    Huh? My old telly had connectors at the back for connecting up external speakers which were supplied originally with the telly. :confused:

    I too am in the same situation as the OP...I recently bought a Samsung LE32R87 LCD ...fabulous picture but the sound ain't too good. There are 2 RCA audio outputs at the rear http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513376&highlight=Optimal+settings

    Could i just connect up 2 speakers here no????
