Bank Holiday pay

    Hi everyone,
there is a question about Bank Holidays I've got. I'm a shift worker working both day shifts and nights, so I'm getting shift allowance. Hence I'm not paid double for working the weekends, Sundays, or Bank Holiday Mondays. Working Bank Holiday Monday is not mentioned in my contract in any certain way. I've got 20 days of holiday + 9 days of Bank Holidays to take (29 paid days off together), no matter if I even work a single bank holiday through the year. As far I understand this is the way the company deal with the fact they don't pay us any extra money for Sundays, etc., it's all covered by the bloody shift allowance, which is always cheaper for the company. Finally, my question:

If my shift is on a Bank Holiday, shouldn't I get either double money, or extra day off?

What's your view on this? I tried to explain it as straight as I could, sorry if I haven't managed to do so :o
