    Hi all

I have a new Ipod touch and when I plug it into Itunes it says there is a software update. I started updating it but its 150mb!! I'm on dial- up so I dont fancy waiting the 19 hours to download. Is there any other way I can download this (say on a broadband pc to a usb key)? Do you have to do it through Itunes?

    Cheers

is it the 1.1.2 update that was released at the start of this month?

if so you can download a zipped version of it here - http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/09/apple-posts-ipod-touch-1-1-2-update/ , just after the tags you'll see: Download - iPod1,1_1.1.2_3B48b_Restore.ipsw, 158MB.

hope this helps, can't seem to find it anywhere else!

    to install:

hold down shift and press the check for updates button in itunes and select the zip file you downloaded

Should have posted in the Portable Media Players Forum tbh, or even Mac for an iTunes query.

agree with the portable media players forum, but i can't understand why posts re itunes are moved or placed in mac forum...if you're running windows it doesn't make sense to post in a mac os forum just because apple make the software?

just one of those things that i can't understand

Yeah, age old debate tbh. I'm not bothered if they are posted in Mac or not, but it has turned into a more "Apple forum" ie OS plus related software/gadgets these days. Get loads of iPod threads, and lots of iTunes questions from windows users. We're a friendly helpful bunch :D
