aBit Uguru FAN EQ - not saving default profile selection

I've a HTPC built with an aBit AW9D-MAX mobo and a Zalman case.

The 2 80mm and 1 120mm case fans are much louder than I'd have thought from Zalman, so I need to set the aBit Uguru FAN EQ software to get the fans as quiet as possible.

I don't know much about it, but I looked at the temperature settings for the Quiet profile, and set the User 1 profile to have 10 degrees higher values for the Low and High settings. When I then select the User 1 profile in the Abit UI, the fans do quiet down a decent bit (though I'd hoped for more).

Problem is, it seems the aBit software forgets the selected profile when I reboot and just goes back to noisy old Default each time. How can I get it to always boot into the User 1 profile each time Windows Vista Ultimate loads, and what settings should I change to get the fans nearer to silent? Thanks

Thanks. I installed Speedfan but just couldn't figure out how to use it - it didn't seem to detect any of the fans as nothing showed up.

the Abit FAN EQ seems to do the job...if only I could get it to default to the User 1 profile after boot-up.

Might reinstall Speedfan though, see if it might help it detect the fans if I can't get the above working

For speedfan to be able to control the fans Abit fan equaliser must be enabled in the bios, just don't use the uguru utility, it runs alongside it. Nearly sure thats how ya do it. Been a while now since i set it up, cant right rem how, but i got it going.

Speedfan not that hard to figure out, might have to rename the fans to know which is which.

nice one - will give that a go so - it's a machine I built for a mate so will have to get him to come over with it and then I'll have a look at the BIOS settings and see if we can get Speedfan going.

Is the general idea of it that you set the fans to work at a certain speed constantly or that you set them to come on if temperature goes above a certain level?

I used set them to 50ish% ramping upwards to 100% depending on the temperature. Set it to 50% & see what temp you idle at & set it to start getting faster a few degrees above that. Also use orthos to give full load & maximise temps so you know what your max temp is and set it 10 degrees lower. Will be trial & error till you get it right, ie the way you want it, took me while messing about here & there 2 get it where i was happy.
