Ford Focus key - waterproof?

Hi, just got a Ford Focus with the electronic key and the normal (not electronic) key. Just wondering if the normal key is waterproof. As I understand it has some type of chip in it.
I surf so need to be able to bring the key into the water with me.

    Any feedback appreciated.

    Thanks/

    What year is your car?

I surf with my 'normal' 01' Focus key in my leash all the time. Assuming its the same type of key you should have no worries!

    Surf safe

Even if the key doesn't get damaged by the water, the salt won't be very good for it:

I use something like this when surfing and diving:

It's not this exact make, but I got mine in France and can't remember what it's called.

I wear it round my waist inside my wetsuit.
