In fairness it's only 5 days til December! Think we put ours up the second weekend in December... somethin like that...

There's Christmas music playing all day in work now :o Painful... I work in a toy store... you have no idea how many children marginally escaped death yesterday!!!

I've seen the same. Nearly crashed the car when some one turned there lights on out of the blue. The decorations must have lit up half of Dublin!

I probably wont put much up. Maybe a foot high christmas tree. But that wont be for a couple of weeks

Another Christmas thread before the 1st? You're only adding to the spoiling of the festive season! But yeah it is disgraceful. Nothing up til at least the second week of December for me.

It's not too early at all!! Sure as another poster said, next week is the beginning of december!! I for one love all this christmas stuff and the fact that all the hype starts a bit earlier means people have plenty of time to get all the stuff thats on my christmas list! :D

I can't wait to put my tree up - i love the buzz of Christmas - but i always wait till the 1st of Dec :D

    Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Too soon!!

I think december 1st is fair enough

Could take time putting up all the lights outside etc and might have been ore acceptable to put the tree up now then

I absolutely love Christmas but never put the tree up til 10 days before Christmas. If I do I'm sick of it by Stephens day

Its way too early for xmas decorations! I nearly crashed last night I was blinded my the sight of some house with all the lights up around the Crumlin area!
I love putting the xmas tree up but I also love taking it down and putting it away because I do get sick of the sight of it.

Ahem, when will this thread and everything else Christmas related be locked up until the 24th of Christmas-month?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

There should be a law banning it till December 8th or what ever the traditional day is (it's not Halloween anyway). The little scumbags should be given free Raine to wreak havoc on any decorations put up prematurely.

You know it's getting near Christmas when the Scrooges and Humbugs of Boards first make a thread giving out about Christmas then protest that the thread is about Christmas and should be locked and anyone who supported Christmas should be banned until the 23rd from when there will be a 3 day window to post all Xmas threads. Any Xmas threads posted after than will result in immediate and permanent banning.

On topic lights and trees should probably go up between 1st and 8th of Dec but some people are early and some are late. It's no big deal. Some people just don't seem to like Christmas and think by not talking about it it will never appear.

    I like Christmas though.

I saw a place around Crumlin that was lit up like a fcukin glass palace.

When will these tasteless chavs realise that anyone with even a modicum of taste is laughing their arses off at their antics.

breaks me up everytime I see a fcukin council house festooned in glitter and electricity that would power a small town in Africa.

    Who are these pr1cks???

Ah permanent bans are a bit harsh don't ya think? :D

Fair enough if people want to put up lights on the 8th, but talking about xmas stuff a full MONTH before it happens is a bit much eh?
Personally i wouldn't put up lights until the 20th/21st and take em down sometime after the 28th.
Isn't 7/8 days of xmas enough for people these days? Most people wont be off work for that whole period anyway so having lights up on normal days would seem a little pointless.

The people in the apartment above mine have had their's up for 2 weeks. They're American, they could at least have waited til Thanksgiving was over.

I wont be putting up any decorations in my student accommodation. I'm hoping to spend as little time as possible in this depressing hole over Christmas.

    Whatever man. Who cares really?

I've had my decorations up since Christmas and no nay-sayers like yourself have given me any grief about it

My flatmate started putting up decorations on Friday. Way, way too early.
Then again, she's American and it was the day after Thanksgiving.

Tell her she's in Ireland now and we don't put up any Christmas decorations until after the feast of the severed pigs head. Once the house has been blessed in the sacred blood of the pig she can put up whatever animal parts she likes.

Is it her first year in the country? :D

What? A council house with Christmas decorations? The fúcking cheek of them damn povs.
How dare they spend money on Christmas decoration.
It's common knowledge tha every person who lives in a council house is sponging off the goverment. Because of this, they should not be allowed to have Christmas decoration and their electricity supply will be limited to only essential lighting and nothing else. Lights will go out at 11pm.

Thread closed because it's not even close to Christmas, regardless of what the shops tell you.
