    Hi all

I'm looking for some guidance. Ive completed a course with fas in manual and computerised accounts to trial balance. Payroll was also included. I passed the course with one or two merits and enjoyed it. Was thinking of going further down this road and doing the account tech course. would I have a good base form previous course? Should i do it via homestudy or full time? How hard is it? How much study is needed? and do you need to get a certain amount of work experience?

Also have any of you heard of a home study course MckeoghMurray?

All your coments/opinions and info would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!!

I completed the Accounts Tech recently. It was a very good course and great qualification. I completed it homestudy with McKeon Murray. The fact you are not doing the course through a college you need to be strict and set aside study time. It can be quite hard to just read through books. You don't only have Accounts, also you have Tax, Law and IT. in business.

If you are doing it through McKeon Murray I would recommend you attend the Revision Seminars which are held normally in Feb and April, in UCD. I found this excellent and picked up a lot at these. If you can attend a college I would recommend it though as it can be hard, I was lucky as I worked for an accountant and anything I needed to ask or was unsure of, he answered for me. McKeon give this backup service as well, but I found it a bit slow at times, in responding to a query.

McKeon Murray give you a exam you complete at home just after Christmas on the first half of the course and then one just before your exam on the full course.
I managed it well, but I think you can pick up a lot in College Lectures.
