Deffo change the power supply and get a better video card, the 8800GTs are the best value for money you can get atm, for powersupply get a corsair or decent branded one, quad core will definately be more future proofed, and with big game engines such as source and even unreal III I think utilising all 4 cores its not a bad investment, at the lowish price the Q6600 is at

Edit: Also looking at the link you can change to a samsung 500gig for 6 quid less, samsungs would also be preferred over hitachi

For €60 extra you can get this 8800gt. It's a far better card and will last you longer. The quad is a bit overkill at the moment but seeing as they are so cheap now, sure why not. Agree with yoyo on changing the power supply. I'm not sure who make good psu's but I think corsair and fortron are meant to be good. For that setup you'd probably only need about 400w.

Why change the power supply? I wouldn't of thought that this was one of the primary components to be worried about. In the same boat myself, looking to buy a new machine and hoping for some suggestions. Not a huge gamer but want a nice powerful machine with good graphics card

the power supply is a main component. lots of people think its not, and its one place you can save a few quid buy buying something for 20 - 40 euro.

but its an extremly important area you dont want to be cheap on.

aim for about 10 - 12% of the total cost of the computer to spend on the power supply.

ok, i'll bear that in mind. thanks.
Just having a quick glance through the komplett site that was posted at the top. There are so many options available when it comes to customising. I think it just boils down getting double the RAM, Upgrading the Graphics Card as suggested and going the extra mile on the power supply. Don't think it worked out that much extra onto the default model.

As Christmas is approaching, I think it's time I got myself a new PC.

The intended purpose is entertainment - games and a media center. I was looking at this PC on Komplett.

The media center end of things, I can sort out myself, but I was wondering how good this would be for games? I am not a hard-core gamer, but I do enjoy the odd game. I don't want to run games at max resolution.

Also, is the quad core worth it? I was thinking of downgrading to dual core.

the Q6600 is easily overclocked to 3ghz and imo is welll worth the money gives me about 10-15 extra fps in the likes of colin mcrae dirt over my old dual core (E6600)
