Obstacle Course Work

I'm a firm believer in variety in sports, to improve overall functionality of the body and to help prevent injury. Variety also alleviates boredom. The Soviet era athletes were always encouraged to get a strong base in many different sports before specialisation in one.

The movements involved in negotiating an obstacle course can be hard to replicate elsewhere. Look how armies use them in training. Watching a show like Ninja Warrior from Japan is truly inspring.

Im wondering, are there any designated obstacle courses in Dublin? Aside from the Jungle Gym in many parks, there must be somewhere. Also, what would the insurance situation be with this kind of thing?

There's no jumping, climbing, running, crawling, or swinging in MMA.

Off topic, but I was of the belief that Soviet protocols were to select children early in their athletic development based on suitability for a particular sport and train just in that discipline.

Stachovian or something like that, based on the fable of the miner who realised he could be more effective in his duties if he specialised and stuck to just one task.

As per the original question - there are some of the Crossfit affiliates that are into freerunning and their workouts reflect your interests www.primal-fitness.com for example
