Just reading about Eastman. Apparently a few years back when Steve Collins was considering a comeback he had Eastman as a sparring partner. Collins never made a comeback as Eastman 'knocked him out cold'

Maybe not or maybe he needed a night like that against a seasoned pro trying to stuff him to push him on a bit.

Myself I don't think hes good enough at any one thing to make him a stand out. He'll do well, possibly get a title shot but is he good enough for the top against say the Hopkins of this world? Don't think so.

Out of coffee myself so its a cuppa tea and some biscuits and maybe some studying until 4am!

Actually the Campas fight was proof , tonight gave me encouragement that he can be better than I thought .

It was good to see the fight go the 10 rounds too. I am still unsure about Duddy but thought tonight can only make him a better fighter.

I'm not big into boxing but is Eastman's tactics last night just accepted in boxing? Throwing punches a full second after the bell sounds, 3 rounds in a row. Throwing punches when the ref clearly told them to break and Duddy was off guard. Deliberately trying to cut Duddy with his head. Duddy didn't rise to at all though and didn't seem angry after the fight.

Why was it 10 rounds and not 12?

I thought won - but Duddy was lazy and laboured all through the middle rounds and more worryingly is that every single Eastman shot landed with easy - zero lateral movement, zero slipping the jab and wheeling around, dropped left hand to expose the chin and hanging his chin out away from his chest - Palvik would break it for him if he did that against him

It was 10 rounds because that's the way Duddy's team wanted it for some reason(not sure why) . Eastman is always up to stuff like that and usually gets away with it , although in general it's not accepted . Just some fighters are better at getting away with being dirty .

I thought the ref should have deducted a point off Eastman for he landed a combo well after the ref said break . Eastman might be getting old but not that old , he heard clearly .

fair play to Duddy he beat a guy who went 12 round with Hopkins. Eastman was past his prime but he showed he can still land good shots.

however, i still think Duddy lacks that little bit of quality to become a world champion. His movement isn't good enough and he gets hit too easily. If Pavlik or Kessler had landed those uppercuts it would have been goodnight for Duddy.

Non title fights of that quality are often 12 rounders , it was Duddy's team who decided they wanted it for 10 that made it so .

Yuri Romanov v Graham Earl is an example of a non-title 12 rounder .

hence the use of the term "usually" - which they are!
