I love pairing my nifty fifty (Canon 50mm f/1.8) with my 400d, but with the crop factor I find it a little wide. I'm seriously considering a Sigma Wide Angle 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM for Christmas. Comes out at around 280 Eur from Kea.

Any opinions from anyone out there using this lens on a non-full frame camera - in particular for portrait use, which is something I want to get into.

    Thanks.

Superb lens and I would still have it only for moving away from the 1.6x crop factor. Takes a bit of getting use to in terms of focus because the dof is so small, its also reviewed in this weeks Amateur Photographer.

I have one for my Olympus and I find it great, takes a bit of getting used to the shallow DOF but wouldn't be without it.

All of these were shot with it.

You'll need it for when you need a bit more reach. I'd keep it.

i guess its relativly cheap for a lens , i actually liked it when i used it, and its what got me to buy the sigma , but its gathering dust ever since the sigma was opened. Its actually much lighter than the sigma , so think i'll keep !

I still cling to the hope that some day I will have a full frame dSLR. So just wondering, whats the alternative to the sigma which could be carried over to a full frame?
