Molding / Casting Claer Plastic or Resin

    Hi Folks,

First post in this section and I have an unusual query.

I would like to know if it is possible to copy a plastic part by molding in clear plastic or resin?
I have a lens from a car tail-light that is amber. If I remove the lens, can a mold be made from this lens and then using the mold, cast the lens in clear plastic?

The lens on the tail-light is not commercially available anymore as a clear part. So I'm wondering if it is feasable or even possible to do this?

Any plastic casting experts out there that could help?

    Thanks
    Ciaran

    Edit:
Just noticed the typo in the title, should read clear. Maybe a mod could correct it?

It might be possible to vacuum form a mould round your lense then use this to vacuum form a copy. It must be a very rare or unusual light to go to this trouble.
