When I click beside a word all the word is highlighted and won't ' unhighlight'.It is driving me mad. Should I not be able to click between 2 words without all the word being highlighted

The only time this happens to me is if I inadvertently turn on "Sticky Keys"

This can be done unintentionally, accidentally, & very easily.

For example, if you hold down the uppercase key for too long it will enable sticky keys, if you choose to cancel it it will have exactly the same effect as you are experiencing.

    A restart normally sorts it.

Sticky Keys can be accessed through the Control Panel, Performance & Maintenance, Accessibility Options section too.

If this is happening in MS Word you can change it by going to: Tools, Options, Edit, deselect "When selecting, automatically select entire word"
