    Panini Football Stickers.

In the playground with a tonne of swaps.

"have, have, have, have, have, have, ooooh need. I'll give you two Liverpool Players for your Shiney Sheffield Wednesday Crest" :D

Key rings. I still have about a hundred and fifty keyrings :o

    Conkers in Autumn.

My little brother collected stamps. The big nerd.

I used to say to him

"Here, I got a new stamp for you" and proceed to jump on his toes. He'd cry. MUHAHAHAHA!

    Oh, and those styrofoam planes.

Stamps, football stickers (but I would always miss an edition and then the annual would be no good), Shoot magazine and Beano comics every week.

Fancy paper and soap coz I'm a grrrllll. I also flirted briefly with sticker collecting the year the Care Bears albums were all the rage. I did smell nice the year I decided to stop collecting the fancy soap and start using the stuff.

LOL! Exactly the same as me :)

Had (or still have somewhere) about 500 different beermats. Used to have them bluetacked on my bedroom wall.

I collected stamps. I used to get batches from a place in Shropshire where I paid an annual fee of £4, I think. Then I'd bring my album into school and have all my classmates gather round to look at them - if I wasn't careful, a few would get nicked! Sad people.

    What was fancy paper??

    What was fancy paper??

It was exactly that - fancy paper! :) It was writing statonery or cards with pictures, it also sometimes smelt of perfume. It often came in cute noepads in different shapes e.g. hearts etc. I don't think primary school children collect them any more though.

    I collected,
    callcards,
    fancypaper,
    carebears pannini stickers,
Home and Away cards (came with TOPPS pink chewing gum),
    lego,
    blue smurfs,
coloured sweet wrappers (usually from Cadbury's roses)
    Soaps
Glass animals (i still collect them)

Very sad i know but i was only a child.

Did you ever hear the My Little Pony song that was a bit rude...

    My little pony,
    Skinny and boney,
    Made out of plastic
    ...

I collected stationary, erasers(not rubbers), pens and pencils.
    Do kids still collect stationary???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭cazzy

I still have a stationary fettish. I dont collect it per say but Im always buying it and I like Easons, Borders, WH Smith, Reads of Nassau Street etc

And if I get postcards I keep them. (kinda collecting?)

Really I am a magpie. I also like pink and shiny things. (and cow patches and cow patch stuff)

Also my fridge is full of magnets from around the world (is that collecting?)

Various card collections, earliest being the garbage pail kids ... spent a few years collecting them (early 80's) Had them all safely stored in my schoolbag then my mam decided to get me a new school bag and bins the old one without checking the pockets :( I seriously thought about running away.

Fast forward to early teens and it was the batman cards and the simpsons cards.

Almost forgot about the fancy paper all the girls in my class used to collect fancy paper, but you were never ever allowed to write on it, and the paper used to smell lovely.
That smell always reminds me of my primary school days.

Oh God it would have been a sin to write on it.
I did though once or twice, when I had a fight with my mam...I used to write a sorry note and in it tell her that this was one of my fancy paper sheets and I was writing on it to show her how sorry I was for doing something bold!!

I used to collect loads of stuff. Money from other countries, stickers, pogs but my favourites were the Dinosaurs and Bugs magazines. Had every single dinosaur collectors card in the display folder ya got, and the full T-rex model that they gave you a new piece of every week. I loved these.

I remember fancy stationery by Gee Pap, some firm in Finland. I wonder if they're still around?

Fancy paper...sometimes if it wasn't scented we would spray perfume on it and it would have a big yellow stain!
Fancy pencils, rubbers, sharpeners, anything that could go in your (fancy) pencil-case, I remember loving metallic pencils.
Barbie stickers for my sticker book and later Home and Away cards.
Also collected dolls from different countries. People would bring them back from holidays, they came in little plastic boxes and they wore the traditional dress of the country. I thought I would get one from every country, think I ended up with about 10!

The nice smellin' fancy paper has triggered an odd childhood memory. When I was in baby infants/senior infants, we used to sniff each others' erasers and see whose smelled the nicest

I collected foreign coins. My brother went for stamps and for a short while he was collecting phone cards. Remember them??
