I did the course in DCU three years ago. A few people from the class ended up doing pure (and well paid) forensics for the big four accounting companies who seem to be the main employers in the area. Outside of that, plenty of us got jobs requiring crypto which the course covers in a lot of detail.

Hi wilbert do you reckon you would need experience in order to get a job in computer forensics after the masters i.e i will finish my degree nxt year and maybe do a masters in CF all without any experience, what do you think the chances of getting a job?

I did SE but I guess how tough it is depends on the modules you're doing now. The course is made up a few crypto modules which were very good (mixture of maths, crypto operations and crypto protocols), a secure programming module which was quite good, forensics which was a bit of a joke but it supposed to be much better now and some other modules which were so un-interesting I've forgotten what they were.

I'm not honestly sure, I don't think anyone in my course had any CF experience going into the course. I would imagine if you have a decent degree, work (very) hard at the masters and approach the CF companies or departments early, you should have no problems getting a job but you never know.
