Question for the girls! Male going bald!

Hi, this is mainly for any ladies that might be around.....

My hairline is receding at a rapid pace! I don't know how far back it will go, I could go bald, I'm not sure.... My uncles have well receded hairlines

But what do girls think of a receding hairline? Do you think it looks silly? Should I get the razor out and go shiny-egg style?

At the moment my hair kind of like bruce willis in Die Hard 1 lol!! I don't like it at all at all....

    Thanks

Time to bite the bullet I think. :) I done the same and never got as many compliments until I got rid of what was left. It just looked ridiculous to have a few bits left on the top of my head. Good luck.

My brother went through the same thing a while ago and he got the razor out. He is much happier now and he looks better. Hope this helps!

Going thin up top myself, not sure if i want to expose my lumpy skull though

I'm on a warning from the g/f at the mo' so I'll give you her opinion (and that of all her friends apparently).

She reckons as soon as the skull pops through the hair, you get a number 1 or a complete shiny. If you're pale/ginger go for the number 1 - if you want a shiny top, it's better with a tan...

I'm almost at the point where the back of the head is coming through, so it's going to be a number 1 for me in the near future...

everyone tells me i look better when i shave my noggin all the way.. u should try it and see how it looks.. trouble with me is i like to have a beard so it's a tricky balance!.. what i do is shave my noggin and face every couple of months.. and then just let it grow back til it looks a bit dumb again.. it's cool then just getting rid of it all and starting the process again!

if you shave your head, it gives the impression that you don't care about a few bits of hair at the top of your head = confidence = girls like that. If you try to cultivate the few strands you have in a "Bobby Charlton", it looks like you care = desperate = few girls like that.

At the end of the day, for every girl that hates a slaphead, there's a girl who loves one.

I have a wee bald spot and a slight receeding hair line. My girlfriend likes me to get a No: 1, but won't let me shave it as she doesn't like it. Whenever I do shave it all off I always get plenty of compliments. So don't worry too much about it OP, it's only hair after all.

When you've got a lot of hair on your head it does look quite silly!!
Should I get the razor out and go shiny-egg style?
Yep! I personally find shiney-egg style very sexy!! :D

I fancy this guy I met a couple of times and he has receding hair with the rest of it longish (for a guy), it does look a bit silly and I'm sure he'd be hotter if he shave it all off!! So go for it :D

Yea, you kind of have to shave it, receeding doesn't look good, shaved looks much better.

I read somewhere that bruce willis wore a wig on those die hards (1-3) because women find receeding hair more attractive then bald but obviously things have changed since the 90's!!! :D:):D

I think bald is more attractive then a receding hairline but personally I love a big head of hair on a man. I do occasionally fancy bald chaps though, they can be very sexy sometimes.

Mach 3 FTW. I took that particular plunge a few years ago - if I can get a hold of my (little) hair (that's left) it's too long for me. Off with it all i say.

shave it tight . baldy heads are hot hot hot hot.

threebeards is right, mach3 a go-go.. although everyone tells me i look like moby when i do it!.. no point in leaving even any stubble, go straight to the bone, as such..
it actually feels great having a nice gleaming skull for a while and the shaving itself is kind of oddly refreshing.. i recommend getting it done hot-towel style at a barbers like waldorfs in dublin.. tho' it takes a while and is a bit expensive.. but for the first go it would be a treat and then do it yerself ever after..

When God made heads, he made very few perfect ones, the rest he covered with hair!

Keep the hair. There's something awful about the feel of a shaved head.............yuk.

    Definately!

Are you dark or fair haired or grey?

Whatever is is anyways - Shave it! :D it'll take years off ya! And make you sexy (possibly)

my dad is balding... but my god; my hair is just so nice! It stands up in ways that most people buy styling gel to do! and I wake up like that!

Friend: "So, how do you get your hair to do that? It looks cool."
Me: "I wake up in the Morning."

Do I have to give it up some day? Does baldness skip a generation?
I need to use this wonderful gift while I have it. Not only that but when I shaved bald 6 months ago people told me I looked like Uncle Fester! I DONT WANT TO BE UNCLE FESTER

Ok though in fairness: you do statistically have better chances as stone-bald than as balding when attracting women.... but my god; think of the Cold! Wont somebody thing of the Cold? I need my hair to stay warm! I love that warm feeling... winter sucks. But Snow is oh so joyful...

EDIT: how do people know if their hairline is receding? when would I know? I always get the feeling mine is an incy bit high but y'never know, I could be imagining it.

My opinion, definitely shave the head, looks sexy and like someone else says, it shows you don't care about exposing your scalp and makes you look more confident, worse thing you can do it fight it.. Don't even entertain the idea of a comb over lol.. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

how old are you? Maybe the young ones prefer shaved heads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,729 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

oh god... how many combovers have we seen in our time that were just... awful? Had this teacher that did it - anytime there was a slight breeze we seemed to always flutter down the halls with the whole of (what was left of) his hair flopping across his ear and sticking out to nowhere. like a dead cat.

Draw a line around the front of your hairline with permanent marker, then if in 6 months if your hair's not still touching the line you'll know it's receeding.

    bruce willis is hot!
Dont worry bout it. just leave it the way it is. girls dont care of guys are bald, its not a big deal. if it wud suit u shave it all off but dont feel like u have to. some girls prefer bald men, dont try to be something your not

Yes, definitely do this, only way to know for sure :D

If it's just a little receeding, leave it be for now (ie if it's a widow's peak with a substantial covering in the middle, rather than a few sad wisps with more scalp than hair on show), however if it's receding at a rate of knots over the top of your head like a startled horse bolting over a hill, shave it pronto. No need to do the polished cueball look at first, you can let a bit of stubble remain.

For the love of god do not retain your hair if it's long, I know a chap who had long hair (talking about down to waistband of jeans length) and refused to shave it when he started going bald. He had a 4 inch runway down the middle of his head and ended up with the "riff raff from Rocky Horror" hairdo. Shaving much improved it.

To be honest i hate the receeding hair line look, but i also hate a bald head so..........i'd crack the regain out if I were you
