Anyone who's played either of the new PS2 GAA games care to venture an opinion on whether they're any good? Please don't say "the first one was sh*te, what do you expect?" etc.

    I'm interested in hands-on experience ...

I know not one person who has bothered to buy or even rent it. The first attempt killed it as a series imo.

How big is the market for these games? Pretty small. So how much money can be made? Not an awful lot. So how much gets spent on development? Not nearly as much as football, basketball, etc games. So what do you end up with? A very poor effort.

Ok I've not played these ones yet but I bought the first GAA game and it was just unplayable. So unless this starts getting rave reviews I'll be giving it a miss completely.

As long it gets rave reviews from international sites I'll be happy to try it. I'd try renting it first. I agree that the market is so small that it makes little sense for a company to pour a fortune into developing it but I would love to see a decent GAA game on the playstation!

Contrary to popular belief the market is far from small for this. If you are talking about blockbuster games like FIFA. PES etc then yes but most games sell very poorly and with over 700k PS2 consoles in Ireland it's a great market for something so unique (rare these days)

I have played both games and they are far, far better than the forst football game. It's a lot more pick up and play and scoring is now possible - far too hard in the last game. The animation on the Hurling is great and it's a fast paced game. It has PS2 graphics so cant compare to FIFA on PS3 but they are ok. Great tournaments, competitions etc and up to 4 can play

Overall I'd say it's a hell of a lot better than before and if you like hurling or gaelic football then it's worth it.

The development budget cant be that small. After all dont they say that we buy the most ps2's per population of any country bar japan????

As someone who pretty much despises the GAA, I can honestly say that the hurling game is strangely addictive in multi-player. Forget about it in single player, the AI is 100% non-existant, but as a multi-player game, it's a very good laugh. The shooting/aiming system is pretty damn good too. Anyone into hurling should get a good deal of entertainment from it.

Yeah, but 20% of 5million is only 1million.

Both games were reviewed on last Sundays Sunday World and they both scored 5/10

Hmmm... who to believe... Both the Mirror and Sunday world are heavyweights in the game reviewing business...

true but it's unlikely that these games will be reviewed seriously (if at all) on the main reviewing sites - most of them wouldn't know how the play the game ;)

Sunday World actually didn't give a rating - and seemed much more positive than 5/10 anyway. Wonder how the games are selling. Anyone from the game stores lurking?

    Multiplayer in Hurling is great.
