    Hello all,

I know very little about photography. I shoot with 5D and edit the pictures using Photoshop CS2 on my Dell 2407WFP-HC.

My question is why the pictures look bright and vivid(after retouching) on my Dell monitor but not so good on another PC or printed from the shop.

Do I need to calibrate the monitor? Where is the best place to buy Spyder 2?

    Many thanks in advance.

HI there, most certainly you need to get a spyder or similar and calibrate your monitor. I had the same problem and the spyder 2 cleared it up very quickly, you will find that your screen before the video card loads the calibration on start up will be very bright and when the profile is loaded it will go dull and gryish looking, thus leaving you to work the grey dullness out giving you perfect prints. Cant remember where I bought it sorry

most LCD monitors are way tooo bright

thats a marketing thing from the manufacturers

so when you look at your monitor you not really looking at a true depiction of your image

    on the spyder

shedlon photographic are a distributor for them, they based in malahide

    think its

I used a Spyder on my laptop screen (Sony) and its just a subtle difference between before and after.

I've got mine on ebay from USA (some 60+ euro including P&P)
no customs tax in my case

I've been thinking of getting a spyder. I have two monitors and they are quite different. Anyone tried the spyder3? Worth getting? How much is a good price?
