Sky+ picture freezing

    Hi

My sister upgraded to Sky+ a few months ago and all was well till a few days ago. I noticed an occasional "stop" in the picture, barely noticeable.
But now today the picture is freezing(pausing) every minute or two, and you have to change channel and go back to cure it.

I rang Sky and a quite helpful guy put me through various procedures which seemed to fix it, but its at it again.

He did ask me to unplug the box and reset it etc but I didnt do that as the plugs are awkward to get at. However I will try it when I go to her house later.

Could the box be faulty? He said her didnt think so. Would that be a new box when we upgraded?

And is it under gaurantee for 12 months, and if so can they still charge you to send out someone, if thats whats needed?

    thanks

    h

    Hawthorn,
we had two Sky+ boxes in our house and every now and then they needed a reboot. Same problem as you and another problem where recording a program the other channel you are watching keeps stopping/starting.
it's a pain to keep rebooting it but it's the only way we found to fix it.

Could be damaged coax cable or dish alignment.

Sorry should have mentioned they have multi room, the old Sky box is there and its perfect.

By reboot do you mean turn off power, leave 30 secs, plug back in, leave 60 secs and turn on? Do you have to take out the card?

Also as the plug in the wall is behind a furniture unit (of course!) would it do to plug the power cord out from the back of the box instead or is it essential to actually pull the plug out of the socket?

    thnx

Happened me this week for the first time (have sky+ about a year). uplugged etc. (from the back of the box as you say) fixed the problem.
