hi, anyone know what happened to the guy (James Crombie) who won the 'No Experience Required Show' to be a sports photographer.
Saw him on the street yesterday but he didn't have any cameras with him??
looking the worse for wear too!!

You certainly won't get rich being a sports photographer. Besides, if he wasn't at a sports event I wouldn't expect him to be carrying a camera.

No idea what happened after the show though.

I met him down at Clontarf rugby club a good while ago and he was still working, dont know at the moment. The glamour of sports photography goes off pretty quick when you are working for somebody else imo.

Check out the guy who won 'No Experience Required' James Crombie trying to help the world renowned photographer Dan Sheridan (who is seriously hangover) in the INPHO offices.
    Classic stuff!

i would like to appologise for noono or whatever he called himself.. i assume that is a guy called noonan i work with who though he was being funny... he is from birr after all... I told him that I do go on the photography forum on boards so i quess thats where he got his inspiration from..

I am the fella that won the show this time last year and still with Inpho. They have given me a wonderfully oportunity which I hopefully have due justice to it..

Its unbelieveable what I have learnt in a year working day in the industry, i share my time between the picture desk and being out and about and i will post up some of my pics so far if anyone is interested...

borderfox I remember meeting you at the Clontarf game here is the pic i said i would sent you.. that was one of first game's out and about

    How's it going, James!
You seem to have the GAA nailed.
    Good stuff there.

Any Rugby Pics James? Well done on winning by the way, great pics but i have no interest in the GAA whatsoever.

It would be interesting to see some rugby picts, especially since myself, city-exile and even DarrenG have been covering some of the Leinster rugby games. :D

Rugby would be probably my least covered sport but have done a couple of games here is a pic or two... hopefully being doing a bit more as soon as the season goes on

Any boxing shots? I'm a massive boxing fan so would love to see some. Did you get to cover the Dunne match?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 189 ✭✭jamescrombie

    hi RCNPhotos,

didnt cover the Dunne match covered the last two duddy fights.... boxing is a very tough sport to cover here's an example, you dump hundereds of files after the match and the light in the National Arena is quite bad.. i never did a fight in the point but i believe it is very good there...

That was a really good show (that particular episode). It was really interesting to see the day to day of someone who does this for their living.

Great to see you are still at it James. Some great shots there...

Great shot. Duddy is brilliant, hopefully he can keep his eye on the ball unlike Dunne. But he'l come back

Never seen the show but would love to.

Anyone got a copy of it?

Maybe put it up as a torrent?

I like your third shot also .... I remember sitting beside you at the Ireland v Australia Compromise Rules final in Croker wondering ... "WTF is this film crew doing filming me and the other shooters and not the game?" ... It was only a few months later that it became clear ...

Glad to see you went from strength to strength ... you'll have to come along a give us a masterclass in sports shooting some time ... there are a few amateurs in here with an interest in this stuff like Paulw and myself ...

    Hi James
I met you about 6 months ago at a Drogheda V Derry City game, you done me a kind favour that day, by lending me a hood for my 400 IS L, as I left mine behind in the boot of the car. I looked up the inpho site the next day to see your pics, I was well impressed.

Hey James, it was a great year for Derry!

Ok, an old thread, I know, but would anyone have a copy of this episode on video or DVD that I could borrow?

I'm just interested to see the episode and see how it went.

    Thanks folks.

You could try contacting James Crombie himself.

I am sure he (or his Mum :)) would have a copy

here is a quick selection tell me what u think

Really like the first one...just shows you what these games mean to these people (contrast with the the Tipperary guy in the background smacking his hurley against the ground).

    Nice work.
