    hey all,

just wondering if this is happenign to anyone else with eircom broadband(not wireless) lately?...
I play on Party and over the last month i could be playing for 30 mins and the connection will just crap out on me...i have to switch of the broadband box for 1-2 mins and then switch back on and its fine again until another while later when it happens again.

Its really annoying, not being a expert in the area but is there any chance that the poker software is puttting too much of a load on the line?...it been fine for a few months up until this....

    No problems here.

I'm no expert but this reminds me of a "firewall problem" that some people were having every 15 minutes or so. Try searching the broadband forum for similar.

I've just got off the phone to Eircom because I remembered that there had been a €150 deposit involved when I opened an account with them last year. They were still keeping it as security. Apparently I can have it back now that I've asked for it. Also, apparently, if I did not ask for it back, I would get it when I closed the account.

So many questions need to be asked with these kind of problems.

Is it only when you play poker?
    What firewall are you using?
    Version of Windows?
    Virus Scanner?
    Modem settings?

and so on. There is a broadband forum here which I would recommend you check out too.

I'm with BT and found the same problem recently. A lot of this seems to be due to the traffic at certain point in the day, but it was also going up and down on me a lot. It was due to the sky box not having a filter on it to the phone cable. Something I never thought off.

If you are using Windows XP you will have the built in firewall which contrary to popular belief is perfectly good enough for the every day user. I use that and AVG Free and never have problems.
