Hey guys, what would be considered the best projector out there for €1500 or less?
I've had a look at some on komplett and it seems none go to 1920x1080 resolution, I presumed that's the resolution I should be looking for an image that's going to be huge. Would it be a mistake to go for a lesser resolution?

Well I went for a Panasonic AX200 as my first projector after reviewing on the boards here and then also after some online reading where the Panasonic was compared to a Sanyo.

It was a close call on what to choose but I went with the panny, and puchased it through Komplett.ie

Am absolutely blown away by the HD picture quality via SkyHD, even my wife who was a bit skeptical could not get over how good it was. I am getting the same reaction from all people who see it now (non-projector users although), and I am still only projecting on to a slightly off white wall in my sitting room.

My main problem now is restraining myself and the family from using it all the time........:D

There are currently no 1080p projectors in that price range that I know off , your talking close to 3K for a basic 1080p model.

Having said that a 720p model gives a class picture at 50 - 70 inchs while showing HD content ,if thats big enough for you then 720p will do , you'd have to have eagle eyes to notice the difference between the two formats at that size anyway.

    Hi Pub,

    What size is huge?

Check out the following attachment (10de11_3.jpg) at this thread. This is an 480p projector on an 84" screen giving excellent picture quality.

Depending on the amount of ambient light on the screen will greatly effect the projector most suitable. I take it you are looking for a Home theatre projector to be used in a controlled lighting enviorment.

Do you want it for multimedia or office work?

I`ve got an Epson TW700. It's 720p, and it uses the same internals as the Panasonic ax100(?). I`ve got it projecting about 100 inch screen-size onto a white wall in a curtained room, and I`ve no complaints.

Great contrast, great lumens, lots of inputs, quiet operation.

It cost be just under 1,000e. You're not going to get a 1080p projector for your budget, so have a look at the Epson, Panasonic and Sanyo 720p ranges - they seem to be the better brands.

If you're using it at home I strongly recommend the Sanyo PLV-Z5

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=328732
    http://www.pcwb.ie/catalogue/item/SANPRZ5

Read some reviews if it (and it's predecessor PLVz4) around the web. The reviews are accurate.

HD Input. Crystal clear picture (When using HD input) also clear picture with component from SD DVD player.

It does need a fairly dark room, but they picture is fantastic.
