    Ok folks,

We are getting very close to everything being ready but there is still a lot to do.

I need to get points from the community that you feel need to be addressed at the AGM and that you feel are important enough to warrant discussion.

Please keep this on topic and refrain from discussion or argument of a topic (start a new thread if needs be) and just post, in bullet points, the items of interest.

    Thanks!

Stuff that you probably already have:

    - Election of committee members
    - Ratification of the players' constitution
    - Proposed guidelines for retailers
    - Proposed guidelines for sites
    - Requirements/status for becoming recognised by the Irish Sports Federation or whichever organisations we should be associated with/recognised by
    - The Press Release v2
    - Standard operating procedure for reaction to media (i.e. joe duffy & co) perhaps layout some guidelines on what to do, i.e. dont all jump on the bandwagon and start phoning in like crazy, but do spread the word and ensure the IAA have a contact available to represent our side of things (Edit: actually, that's pretty much all there is for that point)

more when i think of them...

On that note, discussion of a membership system similar to that of the UK, ID cards with membership numbers etc.

    Proactive contact with political bodies/individuals.

The way I understand things, the IIA's remit is certainly not to introduce a VCRA when there is no need or call for it yet. Just to prompt relevant members to introduce "some" form of purchase vetting, if at all practical - whilst it's highly desirable, it couldn't be made compulsory (à la VCRA), so that's one to be discussed further as and when, but maybe not at the first AGM? :)

Well we have a set of retailers regulations and venue regulations and we also have regulations for individuals.

One of the IAA's stated goals is to see legislation restricting the open sale over the counter in Ireland to those at least over the age of 18.

This as a specific agenda point. I think we really need to have a serious discussion

The idea of this meeting is to discuss new issues and ideas regarding everything airsoft. This has nothing to do with Violent Crime Reduction, the underage selling issue is directly related to a membership system.
Like I said, its a topic for discussion, how can you automatically dismiss a topic when its one of the most prevalent issues out there?
You don't have to wait until it's law or a requirement before introducing measures to counter-act a problem.

    @ AirsoftEire.com - Steve

I am not dismissing the topic at all, I'm just intent on not running before we can walk, or putting the horse before the cart, or... pick your metaphor.

I should have quoted your entire post, not just your comment -
Discuss retailers selling airsoft guns to minors?
On that note, discussion of a membership system similar to that of the UK, ID cards with membership numbers etc.

    To mind,
    (i) membership system similar to that of the UK,
(ii) ID cards with membership numbers
(iii) in the context of retailers selling airsoft (to minors or not)
all amounts pretty much to the UK VCRA = can't buy nothing at all unless you're registered.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, or a good idea, or that we shouldn't discuss it.

I'm just (i) implying that this is likely to be a long/arduous discussion with a lot of stakeholders and
I'm (ii) saying that the first AGM is not gonna be a day-long or week-long affair, and there's already a fairly substantial amount of more pressing "stuff" to discuss/do in the time likely to be alloted - approval of Constitution being the first and most essential item, else there still isn't a representative body for the sport, whereby AOB is completely moot/redundant.

To put things simply - the idea of this meeting is to "create" and "validate" the IAA, anything after that is a bonus (and perfectly legitimate).

Moreover, still to the point and this is gonna grate so brace yerselves - WTF are we/you going to do when market traders don't sign up to any of it and continue to sell LPEGs to minors? Point fingers and then what? Absent any legislation, as I have said, they can do WTF they want (so long as sub 1J of course). We should look good with 'self-regulation', but that's about the extent of it.
