Hey Mark can you update the MMA league tables as I don't think the results of Antrim were entered yet. There were at least 6 guys in the heavyweight division.

Garry you are spot on, I have not updated the Antrim results yet. The main reason being that I lost the update software in the great PC crash of September '07

I have attached a spreadsheet here containing what I believe to be the updated league tables that you can reference until I get the software back online.

Mark I'm pretty sure jonnys results in that table you posted are wrong - as part of my machiavellian scheming i've been keeping track of my division, I have jonny on 13 points, 4-1-1, based on:

    round 1:
Johnny Kerins - KO Martial Arts vs. Daniel Ianelli - UCD MMA Rookie 70kg Lightweight Johnny Kerins Triangle 3:30

Michael O'Neill - Top Pro Kilkenny vs. Johnny Kerins - KO Martial Arts Rookie 70kg Lightweight Michael O'Neill DQ 0:25

    round 2:

18 Johnny Kerins KO Martial Arts vs. Dean Gibbons Point Blank Rookie 70kg Lightweight Johnny Kerins Arm Bar 1.1737

Johnny Kerins KO Martial Arts vs. Phil Molloy Three Castles Rookie 70kg Lightweight Johnny Kerins Arm Bar 3.53

    Round 3:
2 Johnny Kerins KO Martial Arts vs. T.J Davitt SBG Northside Rookie 70kg Lightweight
    Draw

20 Johnny Kerins KO Martial Arts vs. Shane Malone SBG Rookie 70kg Lightweight
    Johnny Kerins via Guillotine

My record (I'm Mark Curry btw) and Shanes is correct... should be jonny in 1st me in 2nd shane in 3rd though. Also the table i've been keeping disagrees with yours for the other fighters... Might want to do some checking :S

Edit to add: I had a quick look over the other divisions and some are definitely wrong.... fighters are listed twice, some fighters I recognise have incorrect records... not having a go at you by any means, i'm sure its a very difficult task keeping track of all this, just thought you should know!

Its quite possible there are mistakes, for one I know I mdae some corrections to some results tables that were lost when my laptop died, *sniff* still hurts, send me your record and I can compare. This is Mark Curry I presume?

Here's my table for the rookie lightweight division - haven't been keeping track of others. If you want a hand compiling tables I'm a lazy student who doesnt do much work :P

Silly me I forgot to trim the strings I was scavenging form the results files so it thinks Jonny Kerins with a space at the end of his name as another fighter to Jonny Kerins with no space (if you follow my geek speak (: )
Here is the hopefully improved version

I voted for Jonny on that poll since I'm his coach but now I'm worried because I'm thinking that the bender he's likely to go on after his fight on Saturday coupled with Dasmoose's intense spying and analysing could upset him. I'll have to keep feeding him dog food for another week and keep him off the grog somehow so he can go get that gold!

can Tj and Johnny still fight in the league even though they're fighting pro at the weekend?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,448 ✭✭✭Roper

Its 2 pro fights within a year of the league I think. And if people keep spelling Jonny's name with a H he'll go mental.

so what your are saying is a fighter can fight one pro rules fights each year
and still fight in the mma league every year is this what your saying that sounds mad man

Well, given jonnys got a 4 point lead on me, even if i beat him and win my other match he just has to win his other match to take gold anyway....

I advise a strategy of jonny beginning all his matches by verbally submitting. I'd explain the mechanics of how this will help him win the division but it'd take too much time. Just take my word for it, it's not like i have some kind of hidden agenda :D

I wouldn't bet against dasmoose winning his next two and final league matches by submission but Jonny has a 2 fight head start already. If Jonny turns up I can't see him taking less than 4 points away though, I think he's the firm favourite.

I'd say the same about TJ Davitt with regard to Dylan Costigan (what club is Darren Whelan in, seems to be pulling in a load of wins too?).

Darren trains at UL with UL kickboxing and munster bjj. He is a good strong fighter and one to watch. Saying that with TJ that far ahead he only needs one point to take gold and i cant see that being a problem to him. He has already fought Dylan which was one of the best fights I seen in the league this year. Great fighters in that division.

He used to be with waza kai in limerick, now its probably a combination of ger healy's place and ul mma/bjj

Okay, we'll just take that on face value and do it then. We've been looking for a game plan and this is the first one thats come up.

    Thanks for the advice!:D
