Quality airline for long haul. I've taken them to Brazil and Japan and they were really good...

The thing that did it for me was that you could go anytime to the self-service galley and get free magnum ice-cream or hagen daz :-)

Apart from that, their service was also quite good!

Yup generally (and I say generally) they get a relatively good report for long haul. Food is considered good, wine (if it's your thing) is unsurprisingly better than other airlines selections.

Downsides mostly from what I hear is the seating which can be a bit cramped and not the most comfortable and IFE problems and occasionally crews that aren't on the top of their game. Their home base at Charles DeGaulle airport is also a frequent complaint due to it's complexity and delays.

Take a look at http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/af.htm for more reviews from passengers, good and bad

I have only flown with them once, one-way to San Francisco. The flight was ok, food was quite nice though.

The one major problem I had with them was the fact that the French love to srike and of course they chose the day that I was suppossed to be flying home with them to go on strke, so I had to rebook with Delta and ended up losing almost a day of my holiday. Due to the high probably of a strike on a French airline I would fly with Virgin or BA over Air France any day
