Urgent Keyboard/Typing Problem

Having a problem with my laptop. When I'm typing, the keystrokes I'm entering seem to randomly change position.. e.g. the second half of the word I'v just typed ends up two lines previously, in the middle of another word. Or (worst case) when I'm typing my password in, it goes into the Username field.. for no reason at all. What is going on? I need to get college essays typed and this is slowing me down to no end!

    Hi there,

It sounds like you have your trackpad set to 'click by tapping'. To verify this open move your mouse over the START menu and tap your trackpad. If the menu opens then your pad is reacting to tapping. You can turn this off, I myself don't like this feature. I find when I am typing my hand can rub off the trackpad and my cursor ends up all over the place.

Do the test I said and let us know how you got on.

    Chris.

I have to agree with Quemlar, The Mouse Pad is the most likely cause to this issue.

If this is not the case then a Reseat of the Keyboard Cable would probably be your best bet. It's not a big or difficult job but I would recommend against doing it if you don't know what you're doing. Sometimes the connectors on these keyboards can be a bit over-sensitive, depending on the laptop.

    I hate Tap To Click.
