The Pighead Question

Gents, Pighead's been banned for 3 months now. He PM'd me on the weekend pleading for clemency and asking to be re-admitted.

I'm in two minds about this. In the past he has been a mortal enemy of the Brotherhood but on the other hand, he can be quite entertaining, like a good heckler.

I'm opening this to a poll to gauge the general consensus.

what was he banned for so long for?

I vote yes. He'll either behave himself or get himself banned within 24 hours, either way it might be entertaining.

I banned him for a "suitably nebulous period of time".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,220 ✭✭✭20 Times 20 Times

I don't know , half of me says let him back in for the entertainment , the other half says what is the point in letting him in just for the exact same reason. Oh decisions decisions decisions :)

I agree that he is funny but at times I feel he can go too far. I think I may be alone on that though. I think he should be allowed back in. Surely, he didn't do anything that warrants a permanent ban from here, did he?

I'm all for more animal themed posters in the forum.

He can be quite funny, and he can be a giant pain in the a$$. Sometimes in the same post.

Maybe I've just seen more of the pain in the a$$, and less of the funneh ... but he has shown a history of troll tendencies that cannot be ignored.

If he has such antipathy to this forum, why does he want to allowed back in ?

I'd like to know more about his request, and his thoughts & response to being banned, before I vote. If his behaviour was worthy of a ban, should some form of apology or acknowledgement be called for ?

    just my tuppence

If I remember correctly he was trolling his ass off in here. Now that I think about it I don't think he contributed one iota to this forum but even given all that, I don't think it warrants a perma ban. If he behaved he could actually become a welcome addition to the forum.

I normally dont post unless its a matter of Butter related goodness or somebody crossing the line.
    Pighead crossed that line http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=54437497&postcount=1
Not because he posted in Patsy or queried ones ever expanding waistline but because he used despicable terms like "ladies", "sipping" and "fine red wine".
That said, maybe we should let him back to redeem himself.

C'mon... no way Pighead should be banned for shining a fcukin very strong light on the things that matter in life.

Let the lad back in please, and let us enjoy his incisive sharp sarcasm, which almost always hits the target.

As a recent lurker outed by brother zaph, I do not know what Pighead was removed for. However I would consider it worryingly feminine for brothers to hold grudges longer than it takes to drink one pint.:)

Good point dfx. In fact, let him in, but only if he does a yard of ale. While upside down.

    Pighead trolling? Never!

Ah let him back in. I've yet to see a thread started by the guy that didn't have me in stitches. Every forum needs a bit of a sh1t stirrer

Robbo, this is a quality forum. It's prety much all I read on boards nowadays. It's fun because most things are tolerated. When there's an atmosphere of tolerance, then the environment becomes self regulating. ie you don't get so much trolling because it would take some pretty hardcore trolling to get a ban in here, or to make the brothers get too stressed.

Look at this in comparison to how the Patsy forum is potentially going.

It's far more fun to troll and far less fun to be a poster whn you have poor moderation.maybe I shouldn't name names, but look at Karoma in AH or example. Always has a snotty comment. Always locking threads on a whim. Takes away from it in a big way.

But here, everyone just gets on with it. Trolling is met with some mockery, but bannings etc have been pretty rare,as far as I can see. You can't really troll when you can't offend people :p

What I'm saying is that I think you should only ban people from BGRH if they really cause big problems. I can be hot or cold about pigheads posts. But, I do think he's not being malicious, and this should, in my opinion, be the most imprtant point.

    So, I say reinstate him.

I also say, Robbo, I shall buy you a drink in yore ma's coz I've never seen a mod actually have the cajones to ask the people who frequent the board their opinion. Most wold be too scared that we're disagree. Fair play to you. That kind of thing is the reason I like this place.

I think boards as a whole is often very poorly moderated, but you're the exception and I think you're doing a great job. Disagreeing with you about pighead doesn't alter that fact.

    sorry for ranting :P

    On-topic:
Bring the Pig back. He's annoying, but entertaining nonetheless. A court jester if you will. He can always be banned again.

Beruthiel wants Pighead in, so Pighead is in.

Why don't you you be a pet and toddle off to the Patsy forum to keep the girlies entertained over there?

Mmmm .... grease + bacon. Winning combination.

Judging from posts & votes to date, the consensus seems to be let Pighead back in, so long as he keeps his snout moderately clean. Maybe a few hours cleaning Ramberts bacon-slicer will help address the karmic balance.

    <3rd person>
trout has no problem with Pighead, trout actually likes Pighead, from a distance ... the further the better ;)

Oh would you look at tom dunne all big and brave behind his puter miles away from moi.
We both know though, at some stage in the future, we will both be in the same pub and then his little comment above will cause him severe pain.

My advice to you tom, enjoy your balls while you still have them....

I received this today by first class mail. It was written in that cool, ransom note way with individual letters cut from newspaper headlines glued onto a sheet of white paper.*
IRISHMEN AND IRISHWOMEN: In the name of Pighead and of the dead generations from which he receives his old tradition of porcinehood, Pighead, through us, summons his piglets to his flag and strikes for his freedom.

Having organised and trained his pighood through his secret revolutionary organisation, the Pighead Freedom Front, and through ...

it goes on like this for quite a while

...In this supreme hour the Brotherhood must, by its valour and discipline and by the readiness of its fried foods to sacrifice themselves for the common good, prove itself worthy by readmitting Pighead to the destiny to which he is called.

    In short, re-admit Pighead :)

    *complete fabrication tbh

    Make with the pig already!!!!

The man is too entertaining, and as mentioned before, trolling surely only works if a few conditions are met.

    1. People think the poster might be serious.
    2. The topic is serious.
    3. People on the forum have no sense of humour.

Surely none of the above are true. We need more piggy insights and insult throwing. Make him a mod in fact I say, as he is a fine example to us all, despite him being from Louth.
