Saturday night out near Dublin

    Hi - Myself and a friend have decided to head away on saturday just for the night.. Ideally we want to go somewhere that's an hour or so outside Dublin - can anyone recommend anywhere.......?? Good nightlife the main deciding factor....

    Well if you hit the M50 at the wrong time an hour or so will leave you still well inside Dublin!!

    Drogheda is a good enough spot - motorway will take you there in under an hour. New hotel there (D hotel?) seem to do good offers.

    Thanks for that Jayo I'll check it out....... When I say an hour outside Dublin I'm talking about leaving at off peak times......

    Take a further hour on the road and go down to Wexford! Great spot. Loads of bars, lates bar, good quality hotels and budget accommodation. No doubt if you do head down there you'll end up in The Centeniary Stores (great spot!)

    athlone is a decent spot on a saturday night, some good bars like; the palace, the prince, rayners, seans (oldest pub in europe). The nightclubs are only average, but then where in this country are there good nightclubs :confused: Karma is probably slightly better than bozos depending on who you talk to.

    Athlone is a tough town though, i was there long enough to know that
