    Hi all,
Off in a couple of weeks for a long haul trip. Thinking about spending the money and getting a decent Samsonite case, I have heard that it is a good idea to get a good hard case as they get thrown about a good bit in the Chinese airports....

Anyhow, where would be the best place to get one in Dublin? I seen some in Arnotts and Clerys that didn't look too bad. I would imagine TK Maxx have some but I doubt they have good Samsonite ones. As I'm going on a few trips next year I don't mind paying a bit more and getting a good one. I don't however want to get ripped off!

Where are you going on the trip? it might be worth getting it there. I went to NY with little clothes, got a massive bag first thing, then wheeled it all around NY buying clothes! lads in the shops there take your bag as you go into shops and give you a tag. Do you shopping and load it up on the way out. Was very handy rather than having tons of paperbags.

My original bag was soft, so just fit in the big one on the way back.

Cant think of any irish places though, sorry.

There's a luggage shop sort of opposite Major Toms (Down Under) at the end of South King Street if you know what that is. They have alot of Samsonite stuff. I know they stock it in Brown Thomas as well but probably very expensive. The only other place I've seen a large selection of Samsonite stuff for sale is at the airport, which is rather unhelpful! Make sure you get a light case though - I find the idea of posh (but heavy) cases naff, because you end up losing half your baggage allowance before you pack!

The idea above of buying abroad might be a good plan. Their warranties are worldwide anyway - I know someone whose Samsonite case broke in South Africa and a new one was delivered to them!

I think there is a samsonite luggage shop at the outlet down in Nurney in Kildare, just off the M7

The factory outlet in Banbridge has a good luggage shop. I had a lovely samsonite hard shell case once but after two trips it ended up cracked from the bad handling it received from the baggage handlers. I only use soft shell now.

Cheers guys! Great idea Rubadub!! I'm going to China so what I think I'll do is bring a soft bag with as much as I can get into it to tide me over and buy one over there and pop the osft bag into it. I'll have to make sure I get a genuine Samsonite but I'd imagine it will be half the price of buying the same one here, he he.
