    Hi,

My partner is a painter, and given the high price of framing, I would like to give a go at framing myself to help cut costs.

Can anyone point me in the direction, reccomend DIY books, courses in the Dublin area, etc.?

    Thanks,

    James

its not to hard, but you will need a few tools.

here are a couple of websites to give you some info:

    http://www.framerscorner.co.uk/DIYFraming.html

    http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/ph_frame/article/0,2025,DIY_14180_2271340,00.html

depends what tools you have really.

    Glide,

    Some useful websites thanks!

I have a couple of tools, like a glass cutter and mount cutter, but I need a lot of practice and patience to get it right!

I guess I need to get my hands on more stuff and you've pointed me in the right direction.

Still wondering of there are any classes out there

Sometimes it's hard to get a good mitre joint unless you have the right tools, alternatively you could use a square block in the corner and butt your moulding/profile up to it. I think you can get a cheap mitre box in B&Q or Woodies etc it will guide a fine blade saw at various angles for you 90°, 45°.
