Anyone else own up to owning an 8 track recorder? And what horrific 70s music are you in posession of.

Theres something well cool when you hear the solenoid clunk as the splice runs past the head.Or when it splits and you have to repair it.

And add the hisssss and odd wow to warm up those speakers.
Wonder if my dvd collection will play in 30 yrs

My dad has plenty of 8-tracks - about 300 tapes and 3 players. 2 of the players are for car use, but he has adaptors to run them in the house from the mains. One of the car players is quadraphonic, but he's only one quad tape (which only has 2 programs rather than 4). Impressive enough - the closest thing the 70's had to 5.1

They can be a pain in the hole to repair - especially if the tape gets wrapped around the mechanism. I repaired so many with sellotape resulting in a brief dropout as the sellotape passed the playhead.

I've a Zepp catridge somewhere in the attic...................

    Ha thats cool.
Quad 8 , yes nothing like it.

A friend of mine suggested to release an album on 8-track together with his CD/MP3, so I took on the challenge.

Was sort of a joke but Im amazed what this has turned up among friends. I need a 4 track head to convert one deck into at least quad playback but thats another story...
    Roll on the 70s..
