Ok, so, as previously mentioned me and my band of merry men are setting up a tea, most likely called Cuanna Fola(Bloodhounds). So, for one, we need patches. The Ghosts have shoulder patches, i think they are custom made. From where? How much? Name tapes are easy. Then theres radios. we need cheap radios and headsets(Single ear with boom preferably). Do the aldi ones have headphone ports? Also, web hosting. For a low usage site at a good anual rate where should i go. I'm learning FP in school so I can make the site. oh and here's a draft logo.

Have a look online for the radios. Motorola do good entry level radios that come with headsets.

For hosting, try www.blacknight.ie. They'll do everything from basic hosting to a full cms. Decent prices too, I have a couple of sites holed up there.

theres a place called "Irish crests" in a business park in eastwall that would be able to do the badges for ya, A friend of mine worked in theres, not sure if he's still doing it.,

I'm looking to get patches made too, I've had the design done for a couple of months now.

Ok, so, as previously mentioned me and my band of merry men are setting up a tea,

Two sugars, splash of milk, cheers...

In answer to your questions, as far as The Contractors patches go, we got some fella to embroider them for us, couldn't tell ya who myself but if you chat to Glenn up at HRTA sometime I'm sure he'd tell ya.

I'd have a look in Argos for radios, as far as I can remember they were selling some alright ones, dunno about the Aldi ones.

Have no idea about webhosting, I'm slightly technophobic

Yeah, we have 2 argos ones for 22 euro(50% sale:D) which are great but as of yet i havent sourced any headsets....

you can get the headsets in a shop on the quays beside the millenium bridge, ita called CQ communications.,

Single pin, 3.5mm, 3 sections? If so Your my savior.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

yep, when it come to that kinda stuff CQ are the men., also i think the old xbox live headsets are the same aswell., not 100% on that though,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

CQ is quite expensive to be honest, id keep an eye out in argos/lidl/aldi for radios that come with headsets, i got the oregon scientific radios in argos (50 for a pair) a while back but cant find any headsets that will work properly with them

oh and if your building a website, dont bother with frontpage, its horrible and will produce horrible results, have a look at a CMS like mambo, once it's installed there are tonnes of themes you can download for it for free and it's very easy to edit content

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

yeah they are a bit expencive with some of the stuff,

Leathal, are you sure yours is 3.5mm? I just looked on a pair of radios i have and thier the smaller 2.5 i think.,

Yeah, they are 3.5mm. Its also the charging port but the box says headset compatible, just not which headset. Got 2 different throat mics before but the wiring was wrong. My dad had mentioned CQ before also saying they were dear. Considering I only apid elevn per radio, spending loads on the headset doesnt make sense.

    KD: is that software free?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

yea, it's free, it needs to be installed on the server where you are going to host the website (which will require PHP and MySQL support) and then you create your website through it, full installation instructions here

There are also plenty of other options similar to mambo listed here

oh and here's a draft logo.

Wouldnt it be better to use a Bloodhound in your logo, rather than a bulldog ?

Or am I just being anal ? :)

    Cheers KD.

Shiva, would this be good as a logo?

At least it'd be accurate. Maybe you should research the Gaelic for "Bulldogs" if you're set on using that logo ;)

well i had a company in taiwan make patches but they dont do small runs, it was for the aliens gig i was on a while back. i will post up the link when i find it, you never know they might do it in smaller batches...

on the radio thing...i have a motorola but the dual pin thing a lot of the better headsets is a killer as its single pin and 'apparently' the dual to single pin converters dont work.(dont quote me, so some guy said on arnies)...

i cant remember here who got the chinese copies and they seemed cheap, seem to get good feedback, and have the dual pin...they were 40 euro i think. puxing or something like that on ebay...

i would hasten to add you are leaving yourself open to some jokes,

    e.g.
is that one of the those cuanna?

    he is a right cuanna

what a complete bunch of cuannas

hey you little cuanna, stop pretending you werent hit

cuanna! sneaky git got me while i was asleep

edit : http://www.badges-taiwan.com/ they were extremely fast, about a week and half from memory. you could ask them or ask them to recommend who would do smaller batches

    edit 2 courtesy of google...http://www.stadriemblems.com/

    KD,

    1. Is this easy to learn to use?
    2. Is it a similar system to Freewebs or is it more open?
    3. Can the Templates be customized or can you make yor own?

    Cheers,
    Lethal.
