Settling cracks or something more serious? Advice needed

    Hi,

I'm in a new apartment that was completed about 2 years ago.

In my living room the plaster along the
intersection of the wall and the ceiling is starting to crack off quite visibly. Apart from it being unsightly it's starting to worry me that it might be something more serious.

Should I try to get the builder back in to re-plaster it or would I be better served getting an independent opinion? If I go independent does anyone have any suggestions as to who I should talk to?

    Thanks in advance.

A crack is quite vague, it could be a settlement crack, or it could be a structural fault. If you are discribe both of these simply as a "crack" we can't really comment here.

Mellor, it looks bigger than just a crack, the plaster is coming away from the wall right along the ceiling border. what professional would be best to get an expert opinion on it?

notify the builder . If Homebond cover exists - notify them too.

    Get a structural engineer.
