I have recently changed my diet and I am looking for some general feedback or advice to see if this is good or not. I am male, 5ft 10 and wiegh 95kgs. I do some cardio and weights three times per week.

For Breakfast, bowl of All Bran and a glass of orange juice.

Around 11:30 I have a toasted wholemeal pitta bread with a combination or ham or chicken and some of lettuce, coleslaw, cheese or general salad

For example today I have ham, lettuce, coleslaw and cheese. Yesterday, I had chicken and mixed salad.

Around 2:30, I have another toasted pitta bread with some combination of the above fillings.

Around 4:30 or 5:00 I usually have a snack; packet of popcorn and or a go ahead strawberry yoghurt break bar.

Around 7pm I have dinner, this varies but usually would be a meat (chicken breast or steak) or fish (salmon or trout) and some vegtables and sometimes fried rice.

I also drink a considerable amount of Robinsons Special R (sugar free) drinks through out the day and the odd diet coke. Between 3 and 5 litres per day.

I have found around 9pm I am a little hungry and have a snack size time out bar.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

Overall its not bad but if you are really serious then you would have to ditch the bars , yougurt bar and time-out .... but you know this already , right ?

Try snacking on raw nuts instead.

    I'd ditch the coleslaw too.

This is when i started to believe this is a piiss take, 3-5 lires of craapp! and a time out bar does nothing for hunger, will make you more hungry if anything.

you dont say what your goal is either?

Cheers for the feedback. I know it is bad to eat the bars, and I am looking for an alternative. I am not a big fan of nuts. Would raisins be an alternative,or are they bad?

Also, is Robinsons really that bad?

Sorry, looking to drop 5kgs by february.

Are there any "treats" which are ok? I mean things that are nice but aren't necessarily "bad". ;)

Fruit's your best bet. G'em mentioned frozen grapes in one of the stickies which I'd definitely recommend.

Raisins would be a better alternative than bars alright, if i was you i'd slighlty cut down on the starchy carbs as your trying to lose weight, imo robinsons and these sort of drinks are very unhealthy and should be taken in small doses if they are going to be taken at all, the more processed the food or drink is the worse i'd say it is..

Did I read that right - 3-5 litres a day of Robinsons/diet coke? I don't know what's in Robinsons (or diet coke) but surely 4 litres a day cannot be good for you. If you're looking to lose weight between now and Feb, work hard in the gym and I would cut out carbs (especially the fried rice) with your dinner, and no chocolate bars too, obviously. Once you've lost your 5kg then you will have plenty of more leeway.

In case people don't know, Robinsons Special R is a sugar free drink which is diluted with water, like Mi Wadi or Kia Ora. I would drink maybe 300 ml of Robinsons, and the remainder of the 3 to 5 litres is water, and a glass of diet coke once a day or every second day.

    Anyway, I appreciate the feedback.

Drink water only and ditch the coke and robinsons.

diet is quite poor but even with small changes you should drop 5kg no problem and i think 5kg is setting your bar too low tbh

Jesus, ditch the cr@p drinks. Have water instead. Don't buy bars such as time out. If you have them around the house (or in your desk at work) you will eat it. Remove the temptation altogether by not buying this stuff.

I wasn't a big fan of nuts either until I started into almonds back in January. The taste grows on you. A 200g bag will last approx 3 days. Have them with water for a healthy snack and to keep the munchies at bay.

Given the state of your diet I would have to agree that 5kg is the least you can loose if you get your priorities sorted.

    To recap:
    • drink only water
    • get used to almonds
    • don't buy cr@p that will tempt you

Just wanted to update you on my progress. I have cut out the rubbish. Haven't had any chocolate for at least 18 days.

On the 20th November I decided to cut out the chocolate and eat more healthily. I also started logging my weight on a daily basis. In the 18 days since then I am down 4.5kgs. My new eating regime has become a habit and it is like second nature, and oddly enough I haven't had any cravings for chocolate. The fridge still has a chocolate and some other stuff in it, but I am not even tempted! I just give it to visitors when they come to the house.

    Cheers for all the advice.
