Hello all. I have XP and am using Comodo firewall, all is well. I did try Zone alarm for a few days and it was crap. True vector kept crashing but the ZA Icon was still in the task bar, beside a windows warning for an absent firewall! Anybody else have problems like this? Comodo never gives me any problems but ZA crashed every few hours.

I have used both and have preferred Comodo, but never had any issues with ZA. It always kept windows happy with no windows warnings.

Have heard of this problem before, and some other rather strange problems. ZoneAlarm isn't as good anymore it seems.

Comodo is the #1 now. No point thinking bout the past :)

used zonealarm for a couple of years with no issues and suddenly last year started getting the same vector error. Updated a few times and finally just removed it when it persisted. Good to see they've finally fixed it!

Downloaded Zone Alarm the other day and my computer didn't like it one bit. I thought I'd try Comodo and was wondering if it will conflict with Windows Firewall on XP.

You should only have one firewall running on your system at any time, so you should turn off Windows firewall in control panel to prevent conflicts.

Thanks. So is it necessary to remove Windows Firewall or just turn it off?

I keep getting a true vector service crash with zonealarm too. I suppose I might as well try comodo to see what it's like.

main problem would be it doesn't monitor or prevent outgoing traffic. Most decent firewalls notify you of any app trying to get an outward connection and leave it up to you to decide if they should be doing that.

Excuse me for my ignorance, but what is a true vector crash? as i use Zone Alarm as well after hearin that Windows doesnt stop outgoing traffic.

It just means that zone alarm crashes and then restarts itself. I've switched from ZA to Comodo a week ago and I'm finding it runs a lot quicker and uses less resources then ZA.

It is ok to use Windows Defender and ZoneAlarm to the person who asked.
