    Hi all,
Just wondering could anyone recommend a place to stay in Amsterdam Were only there for 2 nights and are finding it hard to find a place that'll give us a room for 2 nights without charging us an arm and a leg.

    Thanks,

http://artemis-amsterdam.hotel-rez.com prices from €69 for twin room, witch is not too bad for 4* hotel.

Also you can search by city in http://www.hotbooking.eu

The http://www.hotelnicolaas.nl/ and http://www.rhohotel.com/ are both worth a look. Although Hostelworld.com will probably give you better prices.

if you are arriving early enough in the day, you could spend a short while looking for youth hostels.. think there's one in the vondelpark.. and uh... there's some christian youth hostel too that I almost stayed in...

it was.. christian, but it looked alright.

Way too late now for the OP I know, but for the threads info.

I stayed in the RHO in Aug 07.

The hotel is a dump, but its saved by an extremly friendly and helpful staff. And its right on Dam Square so is idealy located too.

I've stayed there, it was cheap, clean, safe, and about 10 min walk from Dam Square, they do things like have group meetings in the common room and sing christian songs in the evenings which is a world away from the rest of amsterdam, but they didn't seem too bothered that we were just using it as a place to stay, they have a curfew of 11.30 (i think) but if you ask nicely they'll give you a key.

Have also stayed in Flying Pig Hostel about 3 minutes from Dam Square, a big favourite with backpackers, has to be booked well in advance of busy times as it is always full, but it was reasonable and close to everything.

Stayed in Hotel de Paris a few months back when I was there. Around the corner from Leidseplein Square, where lots of the bars and nightclubs are. Hotel was grand, funny flock wallpaper in lobby, but reasonable and close to everything we wanted

There's a curfew, and its full of... quite strange people - and thats saying something for amsterdam

Bobs Hostel is one of the better youth hostels - facilties aren't amazing but you can buzz in any time day or night, staff are very cool and there's a great young atmosphere. 2 minutes walk from the leidesplein, 5 from the redlight district and right beside yellow bike rentals.

I stayed at the Ramada City Centre and was pleasantly surprised, very reasonable, clean and relatively modern for amsterdam. Never ate there so can't comment on the food but the staff were very pleasant and the room was cleaned and beds changed each night we stayed. Location wise it was quite central, 10 minutes walk to dam square and the same for the train station..
