Test Manager in Dublin i'd say around the 375 to 425 mark. There is a Salary survey here http://www.brightwater.ie/documents/Salary_Survey_2007.pdf

Test Manager - €400 to €600+ (depending on project size, responsibilities, etc.)
    Test Team Lead - €350 to €450

Some companies & recruitment agencies use "manager" & "team lead" interchangeably when it comes to test roles. So, if you are pitching yourself test management level you should be looking for the appropriate rate.

    Best of luck!

    Sounds about right.

Testers with 2 years experience contract for €300 per day. So €400+ is defo on the cards...

The OP has already received 3 answers here - all generally in agreement with each other. Why would the OP need to ask again in the Programming forum? Do you think that we are lying?

Should look for 600+ per day.

I agree with Hill Billy. I've hired a few test team leaders over the past few months and most were on about e500 per day. You could get up to E600 though, depending on your skills and the contract itself.

    Good luck!

the rate you've hired them at is not the rate they're getting - agencies are typically adding 18-20% onto contractors rate

No, the rate I've hired them is the rate they're getting. Our rate was added on on top of that and of course wasn't disclosed. I could harldy tell someone they're getting E400 an hour but we're taking e100 of that, could I? That's not how it works. I obviously have to offer them a salary when they're offered a contract and that's what I've referred to above.

If you think that's how agencies worked how would you expect me to hire anyone?

how about permanent salaries these days for a test manager , what seems to be the going rate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,818 ✭✭✭✭The Hill Billy

I spoke with one company recently who were offering up to €80,000. I've seen an exceptional test manager role for €120,000. But, I'd imagine that the norm would be in the region of €60,000 to €70,000.

But I'm a dirty rotten contractor - what do I know? Maybe the recruiters who pop in & out of here may be able to give you a better idea.

Contractor also, but I know they are offering in the region of 60-70K.

A firm like IBM or accenture will give you 750+ a day for test management. And they are not a bad outfit to work for but you have to deliver a lot of results for this sort of dough.

I did not realise test managers/test leads could earn this much on contract. I am a sr test lead (5 years leading experience with the same company) - 9 years experience in total. I am in a permanent role earning peanuts in Dublin when comparing against these figures :(

Ive seen perm salaries as mentioned above in and around the 70K mark but I have not seen those 750+ day rates mentioned for the likes of IBM and Accenture!
How do you approach them , just email a CV on spec?
Agents telling me that 400 is tops per day now.

Well folks - it's not a great time to be pushing for high rates. +permy work, while less paid is probably safer in the current market predictions.

I dunno if accenture are paying that much. I doubt it tbh. (although they probably are charging it)

Theres reading about salaries/rates on forums, then theres actually getting those rates. ;)

I know for a fact that this rate is achievable but then its down to the individuals negotiating skills. Accenture can most likely charge this as they have a track record of delivering results.

Permanent = HR nightmare. Contracting is the way to go.

    do the math ppl!!!:

    750 * 12 * 18 = 160K a year.
Your having a laugh. the big A or I B M are probably getting that. but not you Jaysooe...

Your job is going to India!

Cmon now a firm like accenture dont get where they are by not delivering on their promises. They are a market leader in excellence unlike some of the agencies that like masquerading as Consultancy Firms.

    Accenture's promise is simple.
'You have already fupped up or else we wouldn't be involved. We will carry the can.'
As to the rate 325-400 for a test manager. At the upper end if you have the suite they need and the lower if you d not.

Pardon my obvious ignorance, but I've been in the game a long, long time & I still haven't a clue who you are talking about. I'd also be interested to hear why they píss you off so much.

ireland is full of dodgy IT companies like accenture and CPL and so on, etc.

I would rather not get into it to be honest, i know what i have experienced at the hands of agents and if you have been lucky enough to get a decent job then good luck to you.

So it is all very well for you to come along & say "B*=t54ds the lot of them" & then not bother to say who they are, or why you think that?

I don't know why I'm bothering really, because you lost all credibility when you said that Accenture are "a market leader in excellence".

I dont know why your bothering either, who do you think you are to demand information from me when i said im not willing to give it.

I tried to leave it relatively civil in my last post to you so maybe you could do the same instead of using the anonomity of the internet to insult me. So to prevent this thread being turned into a slagging match im gonna say good luck to the original poster and back out.
