Get mine in the specsavers in GPO arcade - I don't like any of their other branches.

Must go back - the guy put silicon nose pads on & my skins in bits from it

Used to go to Specsavers but now go to local opticians, I find the service much better...

but do you not find the selection & price difficult?

The opticians I go to seem reasonable enough, usually have special deals going. Went to Vision Express once, total rip off.

I got mine in specsavers. 2 for 1 is too sweet a deal to pass down. Before they came to sligo, I bought from one of the other local opticians. I must check out that link the op posted up though.

I'd be a bit nervous about buying on line, allot of glasses don't suit me and is it not hard to judge the size of the frames?

I buy my glasses in the shop (Specsavers) but i buy my contacts online on the VHI website. They are half the price of what they are in the shop.

Have always used Specsavers. They are my local optician, but I have also used branches in town when I needed to fit appointment around college/work. Have had mixed experiences, but mostly good.

Would consider buying my contacts online but I haven't seen the day&night ones much cheaper. My girlfriend buys her monthly disposables online and they are much cheaper (40-50%), but over past year she has had to send several pairs back coz they were faulty.

Specsavers too. The service there is abominable though - really need to try elsewhere.

Used to use specsavers but was so tired of the service there that I went elsewhere last time. Went to Vision Express and will go back there in around a year :D

I get all my contacts for free as I worked for seven years in a large manufacturing facility and still do tests from time to time.

Would use Specsavers though, as any time I've been there I've always been treated very well. I guess it depends on the branch you go to.

i get my contacts on www.getlenses.com (the ones u keep in day and night for a month)

they are irish and almost half the price of specsavers

during the postal strike a few years ago they said i could call in for them in blackrock so thats how i know they are irish

Went to my local optician for years, and then got lured in by the 2 for 1 offer in specsavers and regretted it... their service etc was not great at all... so now am back with my local optician. A bit more pricey but worth it, I think...

I thought the service in my local specsavers was great. They even replaced the lenses in my glasses when I dropped them on the road a few weeks after buying them.

I get mine in a local optician: Rods and Cones in Castleknock Village. Some really nice frames in there.

What a great name for an optician's shop: that's very cool!

I've gone to vision express every time, found the service to be good. Although whenever I'm buying new glasses I always end up dealing with the same woman.

Plus I managed to get prescription oakleys off them, so I can look cool and see clearly at the same time. ;)

Thanks for d info Cazzy, I'll try em out next time I need fresh eyes.

Have you noticed any difference in quality between their €89 for 6 months, and the €125 for 6 month lenses?

I used to go to Specsavers until I switched to vision Express. I think they are far better than specsavers, more efficient and they keep to the timing of you booking!

They also do my contact prescription (extended wear toric -7) and specsavers dont. They also offer better payment options and your contacts are replaced FOC if they tear etc.

I buy them in my local opticians cause they offer a great service: its not just a shop, they always check my eyes if theres any problems and give me free contacts to tide me over etc. Kevin in Greystones

I've bought my most recent pairs of specs and all of my contacts from Ardkeen opticians in Waterford. I travelled down from Dublin specially to get them there as the optician (Kjell) is fantastic and really, really takes the time to make sure you're getting exactly what you need. I never felt so well looked after and listened to in my life in relation to my eye condition and buying glasses etc.

Would definitely go back there and would recommend them to anyone.

Went to specsavers the last two times but don't think I'll go back, didn't like the service, and the optican didn't seem to be able to say anything other than "better, or worse?" I wouldn't really trust him if I thought I had a problem with my eyes, you know?

I recently went to my local opticians and decided to get the lenses there as it was handy but was shocked to find that they were charging E135 ! I usually got them from getlenses.com for E90. I bought my last pair of glasses from www.selectspecs.co.uk and found them excellent to deal.

I've used them too for several years now. Once, when the main bulk of my order went missing and I was running low, they sent out a few small trial packs to keep me going. Good service - I'd recommend them as well.

For buying nice glasses with 1.74 high index lenses I found -

    vision2you.co.uk excellent.

I really can not fault them at all, their customer service and communication was excellent and my glasses are lovely.

I saved about 300 euro compared to the vision express price for the exact same glasses and lenses.

I've got my glasses for Specsavers for years now but other than the first months worth of contacts I now buy them online. Just have to figure out which brand it is that Specsavers rebadge as their own and then get them for half the price from the US.

Have always gone to Specsavers, in Drogheda, Dublin and Navan. Haven't had any problems. Went in recently and the optician said I didn't need new glasses and said that my headaches were probably due to stress. He was lovely and we had a nice chat (GPO arcade). I was surprised by this considering it's a chain branch business, I thought they would be keen to sell. Once had my old glasses fitted with prescription sunglass lenses for free. And the two for one offer which seems to have always been there is pretty nifty all right :) They've also replaced broken frames for me several times for free no questions asked.

    For Daily Lenses
If the lens diameter is 13.8 they are Ciba Vision Dailies.

If the lens diameter is 14.2 they are Bausch and Lomb 1 Day Soflens
