Best advice I can give you man is get rid of Norton completely download and install AVG Free Edition.

Sounds like you will need to configure the Norton Firewall to let you into those sites. Not sure how you go about doing that though.

keen's suggestion is a good one though.

    And that's for sure floydmoon1.
I know it's slightly off topic but did you ever try to download the McAfee removal from their own site? The have it buried so deep that it can be painful to find but it is there.

I know that both Norton & McAfee are both owned by Symantec but neither do the job to any reasonable standard.

There both very good at blocking what you don't require them to block.

They both bring even the beefiest systems to a grinding halt.

They both require removal tools to rid one of their nightmare traces.

Both of their removal tools are easier got from third party sites.

They both cost too much money & god help you if you reinstall too many times cos they make it almost impossible to get your genuine key unblocked if the need ever arose.

Just as a by the way too, the latest version of BitDefender Total Security 2008 has the removal tools for Norton & McAfee built into the installer & if it detects any trace of them it nails them as it installs. (Nice Feature )

Anyway, I think the best advice was given earlier "Go get AVG FREE"

ActorSeeksJob is one member here I would commend for his knowledge about most PC threats & even he agrees with AVG as better option as opposed to much of the retail crap available.

Yup AVG ftw! Any computers I work on, I always recommend removing crap such as Norton and McAfee.
