Took the camera out tonight on a miserable night in dublin .. hate the rain and photography -- like the look i got on a deserted Moore street (even with a maxed out iso !) -- another landmark under threat

The first one is good. There's some characters around the city centre. What exactly does the ISO setting do anyway?

Nice shots Baz - I like the second shot - the colours are twisted by the street lamps...

ISO helps you shoot when lighting is poor , by increasing doubling the number , and not having to leave the lens open for too long , avoiding camera shake supposedly -- it does give a grainy look if pushed too high , in the case of Moore street above, i quite like the look -- basically it helps shoot without relying on a flash , which is a light source that is very dynamic and can be too bright , number 1 above was used with flash.

Nice shots baz - the noise gained from the higher iso can definately benefit street photography methinks. Nice to have your own personal record like you said Moore St won't resemble itself in a few years.

ISO is simply sensor gain, if the signal is poor then the noise inherent in the camera's electronics will also be gained up. Really nice shots Baz, you really do take pictures where no one else would dare.

Thanks -- i really enjoyed taking these shots -- i usually hate rain and a camera -- and havn't really enjoyed my photography recently -- but there was something nice about shooting in a darkened lonely wet Dublin last night -- enjoyed it
