Yes you would but you would eventually get to a point where your metabolism would just get used to that and you'd need to kick it up a gear.

You need to eat more too. Read the stickies.

Anthony, take two weeks and focus on getting your diet spot on...then incorporate activity. Walking is good but depending on your situation will only get you so far.

It can be a bit overwhelming ot dive straight in so sort out the diet and hopefully the rest will follow.

Mate, if you're 21 stone then anything you do right will help you lose weight!
Don't think of it as this big thing that you need to get right, just do something!

Cut out the crap, you mention neglect above, just stop doing that and you will lose weight. Dont worry about whats the best type of exercise to be doing etc or the best diet - at 21 stone you simply cant suddenly start eating 2500kcals a day, a body your size needs more than that.

Just cut out the junk, no sugar, no crap - just eat real food - don't starve yourself. Do a bit of walking, anything is better than nothin - 20mins walking is better than 20mins watching TV.

At this point that is all you need to do to start losing weight.

If you're investing an hour or more each day start lifting weights. Overall it will have a better effect on your system.

Here's a starting strength workout, alternate from A to B each workout (3x/week)

    Workout A
    Squats: 3 x 5
    Bench Press: 3 x 5
    Deadlift: 1 x 5
    Dips (weighted): 2 x 5-8

    Workout B
    Squats: 3 x 5
    Press: 3 x 5
    Power Clean: 3 x 5
    Chin-ups: 3 x 8
