Counterspy by Sunbelt Software is really good.

Spybot - Search and Destroy and Lavasoft. One of them should get rid of it.

Remove McAfee and get your hands on one of the free anti-virus programs like AVG or AVAST. Plenty more listed in threads here. Avast and AVG will both do a booot time scan once you install them. They should clean your system and if the dont use as previous posts have mentioned - Spybot or Ad Aware

A lot of the new malware just won't be removed by a lot of anti-virus and anti-spyware programs unfortunately. It often requires some technical help.

I'd say it would be a good idea to move/create a new thread in the "Computer Health" forum which is for spyware problems now.

Do this in the time being.

Download WinPFind3U.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named WinPFind3u on your desktop.
    • Open the WinPFind3u folder and double-click on WinPFind3U.exe to start the program.
    • Under Additional Scans on the bottom right, check the box for Reg - Disabled MS Config Items.
    • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
    • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
    • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Use the Add Reply button and Copy/Paste the information back here in an attachment. I will review it when it comes in. The last line is < End of Report >, so make sure that is the last line in the attached report.

Make sure you attach the report in your reply.

    www.silentrunners.org

It doesn't remove any spyware, but is the best (and free) program to identify how it is loaded. The Web site has instructions how you can use this information to manually remove the spyware or other malware.

Instead of looking for signatures or whatever like AV programs it simply reports all the places a program can start from and highlights ones not normally there (Google on names found). So basically outperforms every AV product on the planet.

The only false positive I had ever was a Dell Netopia Keyboard Driver it flagged as a "maybe infection"

For some malware you need to reboot in SafeMode to remove the entries & files indentified.

    Thanks for moving the topic.

Yeah Silent Runners is pretty good. Have had to use it myself when helping somebody with a badly infected PC. WinPFind3.exe is pretty similar, but gives a lot more output, and generally can fix spyware problems in the one post by whoever is helping.

Once we see what malware is on his PC, it's easier to go from there.

AVG anti-spyware or PCTOOLS spyware doctor, Ad-aware. all are good at the job.

Good advise is to get rid of McAfee ( Unless you are after paying for a subscription ), and install AVG Free AntiVirus and Anti-Spyware. You can also use Adaware and Spybot which are also very good. Ewido is supposed to be pretty good as well but I haven't used it yet.
