Krakow - Heading there the end of this month and would like anyones advice to fill the 3 days of time we have there to get the most out of it.

Arrive Early on the Thursday and plan to take a 15min train right into town to out hotel and catch up on some sleep( 7am flight)

While there we plan to do auswitch and the salt mines but not sure how long each will take to do, are they full day trips or what, i cant imagine salt mines taking longer than half a day?

Plan to take a train out to auswitch as i believe its cheaper and we can do our own thing.

But im guessing there must be many other things to do in around the city centre, dont want to be too busy either but if something was close by id like to see it,

    Thanks

    Hi,

I visited Krakow last March with my rugby club. We went to Auschwitz on one of the days and it is something that takes up most of the day. It is a good hour on a small bus to get to the place. I would definitely advise going with a tour guide as they really do give you an idea of what exactly went on and we would have missed alot of the interesting things there only for him. The tour itself is about 3 hours long and be ready to do a lot of walking as there is a lot to see between the are 2 camps there - Birkenau and Auschwitz.
Only other thing I can recommend is visiting the Jewish quarter of the city, which is full of nice little bars.

Three hours total for the trip. That's about right. Maybe four.

Take a walk up to the Cathedral too. Great views over the city from there. The main square is beautiful too. Up near the opera house there are still some fortifications from the old city wall.
