Transfering Land

    Just an idle curiosity question...

Say I had a chunk of empty land somewhere and wanted to give a square meter of it to my sister. Is it possible to do this without a solicitor and conveyancing? What would be involved and what would the costs be?

    Cheers :)

Given that she's related plus the possible size of it probably not.

However I recently had to do something like this with a little piece of land and the solicitor I was working with was picky about everything.

If a boundary is affected in any way then you might need a solicitor. Also if the land affected had a previous planning application you would need to make sure that it did not render that planning application illegal.

You might also have to consider getting a valuation done, so that you can determine possible capital gains for your sister. Although tbh a square metre would probably be deemed to have no little or no value.
