    Who's yours and why?

Mine would be Bunk. I just think he is shit cool.

He is in some great scenes espically when he is drunk!

    Dude,it's "The Bunk" :D

This is such a hard question and that is another reason this show is so great. Usually in most shows you can pick a favourite character but in the Wire I think every single character has so much depth in one way or another and you just have to love every character in the show, whether they are 'good' or 'bad'. Of course those lines are fairly blurred in this show.

McNulty was kind of billed as the main character, yet in Season 4
    He was hardly in it!
. Yet season 4 was amazing and probably my favourite.

If I had to chose,I would probably have to go for Omar. Great character.

Not if you're on first name basis

It's impossible to pick just one. I will randomly select Propostion Joe. Great name, cool as sh*t, gravelling tone and a man of bulk.

A forum entirley for "The Wire"! Brilliant! One of my personal favourites was Stringer Bell, the man took care of bidness. Brother Mouzone and Omar are equally cool though, and McNulty is a legend so it is impossible for me to choose a favourite.

The one thing that always got me is he's english in real life. His accent is unreal

Prop joe is fantastic, keeps playing both sides. Omars the man tho, i love the one where he stole off prop joe and then asks did Joe repair his clock.
Tv nutz said it right, theres so many class characters, Bodie great, cheeky little mofo, Marlowe is just so bad it genius. Really beginning to like Carver after seasons 3 and 4, he started out as such a dick in 1 and 2.

Another vote for Prop Joe here - he gets all the best lines! I loved his definition of marriage guidance counselling in Season 1!

Carver seems to have really matured as a character in Series 4, but Herc has really gotten worse - he has been the cause of a lot of grief for several characters (including himself) because of what he has said or done.

For some reason this scene always stays with me... “Charlie Stollers just sold dope. No profile, no street rep. Just buy for a dollar, sell for two.” - Prop Joe.

Hmmm I think this might deserve a new thread. Excellent to have a forum for this by the way.

    Omar

And coming up a close second is Bubbles, it doesn't matter what he does, he always gets the short end of the stick.

Bunk, McNulty, Proposition Joe, Herc and Carver and the two useless old guys from series 1. I can't quite remember their names so I think I shall have to watch the series again :D

I think they were called Poke & Mahone. Originally I thought the writers were having a laugh calling them Pog and Mahone!

Carver has really matured whereas Herc is just an idiot really!

One character I actually felt bad for despite his dubious introduction is Prez. Talk about kicking a character while he is down, and he is always down and always being kicked except for season 4. I really liked him in season 4. After his stupid incident of
    taking a kids eye out
,he got into the investigation and then
punches his father in law in season 2, kills another cop in season 3.

In season 4 I was thinking what can they do to Prez this year! But he was really good as a
    teacher

    Omar Coming!
    Gotta be Omar.

And Bodie. Thought he was great since Oz.
Very sad how he went out.

Bodie was the main man for me. Great character.
    D'Angello was great too.

for me theres not one character i cud single out, theres just WAY to many to choose from. for starters there the much under rated "Cool Lester Smooth" just love the scene in the first series where he goes out and get the pic of Avon, the whole squad is trying there best to get it and Lester just walks in near the end of the episode and drops the pic on the table and then goes back to his desk, picks up his model funiture and goes back to carving like its nothin! his nikname says it all.

Bodie, what can i say? i think he said it best "I'm a soldier yo, a mother****ing soldier" Fearless, intelligent, ruthless and is prepared to do what ever it takes to further advance his career in the drug game, (look what happened to Wallace)

Howard "Bunny" Colvin is worth a mention to, the hole hamsterdam idea was just genious. i think its great the way the writter kept him in the show after series 3.

theres other obvious characther worth a mention here like, McNulty, Bunk, Stringer Bell, Prop Joe and of course Omar, Frank Sabotka is worth a mention to, even though he was caught in a all types of crazy **** it the Greek, in his own mind he was doing it all for his union. out of all the kids that joined in series 4 i'd have to pick Michael Lee or "the pup with big paws" as Marlo called him, that kind just don't give a ****.

oh nearly forgot We-bay, what a characther i love the scene at the end of season one where he cops to all the murders, pure brillance!

what was he doing again? chewing down on some KFC and mubbling out who he killed with a giant drumstick in his mouth. 'who dat?, ah yeaa...i killed that nigga too'

got it in one, they guy knew he was going away for the rest of his life but he didn't give a ****, personally i thought i captured the mentality of somebody caught up in his lifestyle perfectly!

    There's so many.
Stringer Bell (RIP), Omar Little, McNulty, Bunk, Presbo, The fat white homicide cop, couldn't single one out.
