First Laptop!!

    So, i received my first laptop today and i want to make sure it lasts and i can get the best out of it etc, im fairly techie but dont want to go trying to overclock anything or that!! does anyone have any advice with what i should do?? Will be getting microsoft office on it soon enough aswell.

    no, went with xp, got a few bad reports on vista and i knew xp so i decided to get it instead

    i pretty much got the exact same laptop yesterday with Vista instead of XP though.I couldnt be happier with the laptop so far

    Why does everyone jump on vista? In my opinion it's silly to not get vista with a new pc, it's great... (I've heard a ton of people say it's rubbish, but they don't (can't) give a valid excuse)

    Anyways, OP, some advice: get yourself some anti-virus and anti-spyware software, something like Avast! or AVG (for anti-virus) and ad-aware for the anti spyware...

    i agree AVG are very good programs and also free so they are very handy! lavasoft adaware is good also for getting rid of adware off your computer, i would suggest getting that!

    Also on the vista thing i think its great to be honest! looks amazing and has some cool new features!
