Is it just us so far! I stuck to our own county board there for a while on hoganstand but alas, idiot's are starting to take that over as well. We had a 13 year old girl there for a while in armagh exile who insisted on calling Munster: "Monster" and now some other twit trying to talk down our club situation.

feicean great to be here!! I wont mention the other webpage, I am sure you know anyways, but it has gone to the dogs lately, Myself and a few of the regulars in there got sick of it and decided enough is enough. So Aidan who posts here recommended this place to us. So here we are. Thats about 8 new members for ye. We come here with Legendary status on "certain other website" but we wont be Prima Donnas :D
Great to be here!! This is not an invasion, but an amalgamation of "certain other websites" best and brightest and Boards.ie

Good to be on a board where the moderators take it seriously. The other site was letting any posts go through from certain posters
So lets get back to the meat and potatos of posting - if you could put any Kerry player in the Dublin team, who would it be and why?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 80 ✭✭EoimarMuppet

no KOT I know what I meant! :) Even it if was 30 feican years ago!!!
Any Kerry player....is that a serious question Holymoly......Cooper...Duh!!!!
(watch "certain other website" die a slow death now and they have no one but themselves and the quare fella to blame for it, its not even his fault so much as the mod's who refused to take action, no tears here)

Ya should create a new thread about swapping players, keep this for introductions.

Sorry Kaimera, just getting used to the new set up. The last site had comments coming from all over the place which were supposedly within the original topic
So we have aidan, liam, KOT, JayoCluxton, myself....who else will get snapped up?

Aidan is already here and I would say Lockjaw, Gerry and one or two others wont be far behind.

The muck posted on hoganstand is something else. Quite the sight of ****e to behold.

Worst thing is it used to be good. But then this lad BallBoy came on board and single handedly destroyed it. Shame but they have no one to blame but them selves. They gave him the platform, he abused it, they stood by and allowed it to happen.
Had a peek there, the least amount of posts over a week as ever i have known it to have and all the old posters are gone and here now.
No sympathy. They got their warnings. They chose to ignore them.
    Boards.ie already seems different class.

It's after taking a hard hit. 2 or 3 years ago that msg board was hopping. About 5-6 posts today and it's llike broken records!

Tbh it just looks like a board of Bigots, 12 year olds and County Fanboys having a big old tiff. If you want some rationale debates you've come to right place. Welcome to boards.ie!

    Sweet.

Hey Liamo - I heard that the whole GPA thing is down to you looking for a big sign-on fee from boards.ie ! Fair play to the sales rep job - selling soft drinks to the licensed trade is a cushy number.

Good to see all the intros though! Is it just me or is this place a lot warmer. Hard to find your way around too. I got me knuckles rapped on me first post by Kaimera (who he!) - it was like peeing in me trousers on me first day in primary school. Gave out s**t the teacher did - well I suppose I was 23.

Speaking of which where are the toilets around here? Oh I think we'll be fine here - they all seem so nice. Just when you start your first day in a job - can't do enough for ye - but when you go for promotion - whoa! mmm lets try an icon -

Nah, Blackbelt is grand if you're from Dublin. It's that certain other poster who enjoys trolling both this forum and the soccer forum. I did read the shíte that that Ballboy spouts on Hoganstand though. It'd be great fun ripping him apart in here. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,729 ✭✭✭Pride Fighter

Can any of you new people actually play the game? I ask because we are going to have a challenge match against the soccer people on boards next year. 1 game gaelic football the other soccer. PM blackbelt, we can use all the numbers we can get.

NOOOO IT WOULDN'T!!!! It used be worse when he agreed with some point you might have made earlier as it totally took away credibility and then he would go off and some rant and you would get tarred with the same brush. Liam you never had that trouble cos HE NEVER agreed with you. Honestly I don't think the moderators would put up with him for even an hour!

    that sounds fun!!!!!!!!!
is the soccer lads forum foot.ie or is that seperate!!! I would be on both teams!! GAA first tho!!
So have many of ye been on Hoganstand? Would be familiar with any of us who have "transferred over" :D

I'm as objective and fair as they come lads :)

No debating from me,I keep that for the Summer months when the vocal chords are also in effect.:D

Good to see some new members here.Hopefully we'll have more at boards beers.

As for Ballboy on Hoganstand,I am in deep suspicion that he is Lemlins Mayo counterpart/cousin...an extention of the "family".:D:D:D

Actually trying to get back in shape (not having much luck) to play a bit of junior football next year, so another game wouldn't do me any harm.
Sure all I need to do is clean my boots and socks that have had the same mud on them since 2001 and I'll be laughing

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 80 ✭✭EoimarMuppet

HolyMoly = Reserve Keeper for Junior B's in 1983
Played a grand total of 6 minutes all season and jacked it in to become a professional bar fly and part time pimp.
    Worth a look

It's all internal on boards.ie. The soccer forum is here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=151, but you there are a few rules before you can start posting.

Have a browse through here if you have a bit of time and want to get up to speed on boards: Newbies/FAQ

There are loads of different forums here that may interest you and much less shít to put up with than on that other cesspit! ;)

Hey it is good here innit? Its like someone turned on a light or something and all of a sudden there's 1000s of new friends spouting up from everywhere! And some of them know stuff as well! My sentence is gonna pass so much quicker now!!

Liamo check out those other lads and tell them to drag their sorry carcasses over here. I think I had a run in with a Mod earlier (how the fcuk did he know I was a Ted??) and I was only here a dry weekend. I'm sure he's a nice guy though :):):)! Agree with KoT the HS is dying on its desk!

Anyway I'm off to Rome tomorrow for a few days to see if I can get Benny to intervene in the GPA thingy. Will keep an eye on ye though - enjoy!

These fckuing things :mad::):D:p:o:eek: are great crack, especially

The format on HS is terrible. Its unclear and hard enough to read.

Anyway, welcome to Boards lads. You'll get to know most people in time. particularly when the League starts. The GAA v Soccer concept has to go ahead and we have to get organised. As before I didn't quite get the quota.Pride Fighter,I'd like if you could help me organise,I'm terribly busy with college. We'll have to organise our team and get an agreement on training times and a venue.

I can certainly get some friendly matches organised too so we'll know how good we are and gel together properly.

Just had a quick check there; a half a page worth of comments for the day! Ohhh it's taken a knock! Ya complete madness; there seems to be a window of about a half an hour 3 times a day when all comments are posted and to be honest I would say about 50% don't get posted for reasons unknown! Has anybody else joined up from there yet?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 80 ✭✭EoimarMuppet

Good times ahead, not for Hoganstand tho!

I am busy with college myself. I think it would be best to organise it in the new year, get 3 or 4 months of training in before doing it and destroying them!! I'd say 1 day of training a week on a saturday or sunday would suit most and the Phoenix park seems like the most central venue.

I presume you are only talking about the soccer leg when worrying about gel? I don't really think ye should go down that road. Just do yizzer best - don't worry about bandanas, yellow boots and gel and things. :D:D

I'd luv to help and was a bit of a Niall Quinn in me day complete with Disco Pants. But a knee operation did for me back in '98. Soccer and GAA career over as well as a nice little sideline I had as a professional altar boy - I only did weddings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

Ok,I'll be PMing anybody who has confirmed their interest.Phoenix Park sounds the most viable grounds and I have contacts that will give us some friendly games.

Another venue is Fairview Park or even St Annes so if Phoenix Park is a problem,we could use those.Friday - Sunday sound good as most of us train for our clubs tues and thurs although I'm only coming back into it properly in the next few weeks.I think if we agree a date with the soccer forum in the next few weeks we will have no problem.

They wear a sky blue jersey for soccer so we'll have to come up with our own colours but there is no way I am budging on using Dublin jersies for the GAA match.

Blood red soccer jerseys should do. I play in the UCD superleague and my team is second bottom, we wear white, the colour of surrender. Red is good as there are plenty of people with Manyoo and Liverpool jersyes around. Or black, it has to be an aggressive colour IMO, not white!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

Defo not white...it aint my colour really anyway.:D Ironically my club (St Vincents) are the white above the blue.

In saying this.this rules out the Dublin away jersey too?

I think a date in June is likely.

Ooh, I don't know if I could bring myself to wear one of those things! :D

I'd be available to lend my body to the cause though. Used to be decent once upon a time but fitness levels could be a major issue at the mo. A few laps of Gerlock's race track is what I need...

EDIT: come to think of it, the racetrack didn't do our hurlers much use this year.
